Exclamation Pops to be waived and then signed to a 10 day

Quote:
The Toronto Raptors will announce the release of forward Pops Mensah-Bonsu later Tuesday, according to NBA front-office sources.

The Raptors, though, hope to re-sign Mensah-Bonsu to a 10-day contract if the three-year veteran clears waivers.

A stipulation in Mensah-Bonsuís contract required Toronto to make a decision this week, with the remainder of his $825,497 salary becoming guaranteed for the rest of the season if he appears on the Raptorsí roster beyond Jan. 5. The 26-year-old has earned nearly $355,000 of his salary in the seasonís first two-plus months.

It must be frustrating to be dicked around for what seems peanuts when half the team is making your annual salary in a few games.

I know it's the nature of pro sports, but it still must suck.

However, he will make $500K this year...still a good nut if he is smart about it.

Obviously, this just until Evans comes back.

Jack Armstrong was on the radio this morning saying that Evans is practicing and is about 2-3 weeks away from returning.

From Doug Smith:

Quote:
I’m told there are European clubs dangling contracts in front of him that may prove to be lucrative and there is a chance other NBA teams might have some interest.

Mensah-Bonsu’s one-year contract would have been fully guaranteed had he remained on the roster past today. The savings amount to somewhere in the range of $400,000 and general manager Bryan Colangelo has also created an opening on the roster if he’s got other moves planned in the future.

A 10-day contract is worth somewhere around $50,000 and the Raptors can sign Mensah-Bonsu to two of them, if they wish, before having to either cut him loose or sign him for the rest of the season.

It’s not as if he’d had a huge impact on the court, either. Used primarily in games where Toronto needed a last-gasp jolt of energy, his play was spotty and, truth be told, his absence won't be a huge issue.

Why?

I think it's pretty obvious that once Reggie was ready to come back he'd be gone.

Aha, I was watching basketball with my friend the other day who has no interest in it, and he asked me if the commentator was Ray Ramano, it was Jack Armstrong lmao.

Meh I wouldn't mind. That much money is more then a lot of professions. On top of that you get that much for 1 year, it is really good

What a fuck POB is doing on the roster???? Why BC doesn't want to wave him???.........

Maybe because (Patrick) O'Bryant is like Brian (Colangelo).... Finally, I figured it out!

POB is an expiring, so yeah you can package him... I think his is like 1.7M? Wright is over 2M.... but you can't waive him because the cap space is used... would be pointless... at least he is a live body to practice with... maybe he is showing something there?
