Default Pops Calling Out The Team

I've love this guy and I'm happy that someone's stepping up and calling it like it is. I'm just surprised its the guy that only been here for about a week.

Poor guy... he was in SA with Timmy and Pop... it must be huge cultural shock for him being here... I give him few more weeks and he'll turn into another Raptor zombie... just watch Marion, he also complained just after he came... and look at him now... looks asleep half of the time.

That's what has changed me from the eternal optimist to generally disapointed this season. I can handle lack of talent, but lack of heart and effort are inexcusable.

I think in that same article Bosh (and I'm paraphrasing) says: the time is past rallying the troops; I've tried to lead but no one's listening.

I think it's a general giving up on the season mentality in that locker room and really those guys need to be pointed out and gotten rid of.

I think the big problem is a lack of any coherent gameplan or idea what the team should do or how individuals should contribute. It's one thing to "go hard" when your role is defined by those terms, it's another thing when nobody else has a role defined beyond that. I mean I sometimes think there is a lack of effort, but mostly I'm just seeing a collective sense of being lost. You get Jose passing up a wide open shot in order to feed a trailing Bosh for a three-point shot. Why?

I see Bosh and Bargnani working pretty well together, and Parker and Marion working pretty well together, and other than that there is just no sense of what everyone on the floor should be bringing to the game. And when there's anything working it never leads to attempts at exploiting other stuff that could be opening up as a result. Instead the defense adjusts and the Raps just keep running into the same wall.

Was it time for a speech from the captain? Chris Bosh, who needed 16 shots to get his 17 points last night after putting in back-to-back 30-plus-point games, said he'd already rallied the troops "too many times to count" this season.

"We've said it plenty of times: `Hey guys, we've got to turn this around.' Plenty of times," said Bosh. "But it's past that."

maybe chris needs to learn that leadership is a lot more than just asking the guys to work hard to turn it around. this team has obviously given up. motivation needs to be built from success, hunger, drive and passion. i haven't seen any of that this year. at all.

Defense is the real problem. I saw Marion pretty much just standing around guarding nobody much of the night. The zone is as close to playing team defense as they get, and that's only because they all equally guard nobody. To me it looked like the gameplan was to give them the three ball, and they took it. And again there was no plan B. Lost. These guys are absolutely lost and not able to compliment each other - and I just don't see how any rah rah stuff is going to help with that.

Defense is clearly the problem, and yet from the top down the idea seems to have been fuck defense for now. The GM talks more about the flow of the game than anything else. He fired the coach that stressed the need for individual accountability, and in turn BC stressed the need for the team to have fun and not look over their shoulders. What did any of us expect?

No one is innocent in this team. They all share the same quantity of fault. Embarrasing year.

The coach is just a puppet of the GM though. That's what really scares me right now. The GM isn't going anywhere.

As much as many out there feel that alot of changes are not needed and just a key tweak here and there, I'm getting a gut feeling that we're most certainly blowing things up and starting with a clean slate this summer. Or for the sake of this franchise and its fan base, I hope they make significant changes from the coach staff down to the players itself.

They could definitely use a solid vet who could provide the kind of leadership that Bosh and Jose can't, and that Sam all too often had to make up for. But there has to be a solid idea of what kind of team is actually being built, and that has to be recognized fully by every single guy before anything gets turned around. I just hope BC isn't the one that is lost more than anyone else, but I wonder if maybe he is.

I think the losing mentality and culture that permeates this team infects players like a virus. It won't be long until it gets to Pops too.
It's good that he said something, somebody should be calling these guys out.
BC and JT just want to hold hands and sing kumbaya, pat Bargs and Joey on the head and say "good game buddy, I'm so proud of you".
It's on BC to right this ship, but my confidence that he'll do so is waning.
Hopefully I'm dead wrong. We'll see this summer.
