No, you asked me if you 'got this straight', which you didn't, because you completely missed the point of my post, to which I responded and reiterated my point to you again with my last post hoping you'd understand it. Instead of responding to my point, you're trying to get technical with a backhanded comment about missing a "?" instead of posting anything of substance.

To reiterate my point for a third time so you hopefully this time you comprehend it:

I have no issue with fans who want to win and make the playoffs this year, even though I disagree with the stance. My issue is with the fans who change their opinion on a game to game basis based on the result of that game. Those people aren't true fans to me. They're sheep, just like people who believe everything they read and hear in the media.

Haha, I'm a degenerate, so I'd probably still take someone up on the bet if they wanted it. Then the Raptors would win by 30 in San Antonio with Landry Fields going for a triple double.

if we beat SAS on the road on a b2b, I would leave the tank team. There is NO WAY that happens. I'll bet $300 we lose by 15+. (just kidding about the bet - but not about the margin).

BDL, I have come to the conclusion that you must bet on the Raptors winning in order for us to properly tank

Hollinger's playoff odds, who take into account strength of schedule and point differential, give us 91% chance of making the playoffs, 4.7% chance of winning the conference, and 1% chance of winning it all

too bad it's not a million to one shot, because everybody knows those always happen

Now THAT'S no mans land. 91% chance to make playoffs but a near nonexistent chance to be a contender. But people want to get hung up on a 25% chance at the top pick

what kind of effort do you need to tank ?
0 effort.
What kind of effort do you need to do to prove yourself in the playoff ?
Alot

So, right now, if this team or fans think about tanking, then I will call it a stupid idea that reflects a weak determination for this organization and its fans.

Make the playoff, learn from the experience and keep moving forward.

Not this year in this shitty Eastern conference

We're an ok team that would be 10th in any other year but because we are the lesser of 5 evils in the Titanic division, you get fans who think this squad is actually good and fail to realize that if we keep this core we'll be capped out and as such will be unable to move forward.

Nobody wants to see their team lose but "tanking" or getting a well positioned pick is how the system works.

The East, as others have said, is terrible and as bad as it is, it will likely improve to some degree next season.

The playoffs is being indicated but what does this mean - raps grabbing the 4th seed in one of the worst divisions in years or raps scraping by in 8th or something like that to face utter decimation at the hands of the heat or indy in 4 or 5 games?

Lowry, who is one of the two most important pieces on this roster, the other being Amir - will most likely be dealt at the deadline which will hinder this team's aspirations as a terrible defensive backcourt of GV and DD will play heavy minutes together.

Let's say the raps do get 4th - hypothetically. Then they may have a shot at both winning a division and winning 1 series. They will not win in that second round against Miami or Indy. What's the next step then? And this is with 4th place being kept - which would probably mean that KL would have to be here and if he was here he'd probably have to be already kept ie. signed, cuz if not then he would be a UFA in the summer and arguably the most important piece to the team's success will have walked away with the team getting zero assets in return.

Let us say we tanked this season, we got a high draft pick, we drafted a very talented player and then within a year or so, he got injured - Greg Oden - what will you do ?
You can not plan the future of an organization by tanking. The future has alot of variables, but the present can open many doors to a good future.

Then we're back where we are now, minus Lowry and one of Amir or Demar and a lot more cap space. Oh no, what a terrible situation to be in.

Get used to it. Because the schedule really favours the Raptors now and in January and we are 11th from the bottom even if we arent winning the division. At a certain point in the next month its probabaly too late to tank and everyone might as well just jump of the playoff wagon. Or... we trade Lowry and continue trading to the bottom, but there seems to be no urgency and the tank just peters out if that continues...

Torn as usual. I don't want to see teams in our conference add studs to their roster and we don't....like Milwaukee, Orlando, Philly and Cleveland. I think we'd be picking 16th if the draft were today.

But that doesn't mean I don't want to see them bust the Knicks in the mouth on the big stage.

studies have shown that faced with an alternative of getting $90 today, or $100 next year, most people would choose the first, despite making little financial sense. And, if I recall correctly, there was no correlation between level of education or other factors. It's just that people put a high premium on waiting for something.

Yeah, I can totally see that.

In terms of this scenario though, we have had plenty of previous history with the situation in that being stuck in the middle has gotten us nowhere over the majority of these last 10 years. Yes, we have newer better management, but being in one of the last playoff spots or 9/10 seed with little good core talent in place and assets to improve in the off season is a good thing. You can enjoy your .500 team and 1st round loss this year, but next year we'll be back in the exact same scenario with a very similar team, and the cycle will continue, aka the treadmill.

I've gone through seasons like this long enough not to be fooled again, and I'm now willing to rebuild properly unlike in previous seasons where I was a homer and held out false hope that the roster as constructed could do something positive that year without looking at the big picture. If you compare our core to other teams around the NBA, that alone should put you on the tank wagon. Even Milwaukees core(Alphabet, Sanders, Henson, Ilyasova) is better than ours. We need to improve the starting level talent on this team first, this isn't a bench issue like many think it is, because even if we improve the bench, we're still not a legitimate playoff team in my eyes being .500 or less, and then losing our starting G in free agency without a top pick.
