Raptors Pistons have interest in Rudy Gay

If Drummond were available......maybe?

Drummond + Knight + picks?

Based on that possibility, the Pistons were among the first teams to reach out to the Celtics and express interest in acquiring Rondo, the All-Star point guard who is coming off an ACL injury, league sources told CBSSports.com. Having already made lucrative pitches to free agents Josh Smith and Andre Iguodala, Pistons president Joe Dumars also has registered interest in Raptors forward Rudy Gay, one source said.

Who would be our SF if that was the case? Why Drummond? Would JV play PF? Has he ever played PF? Is he even quick enough? JV>Drummond, and I wouldn't want his potential to be hindered playing out of position.

Uh, sorry, jeff, but they are not giving us Drummond and picks for Rudy.

Wait....this is the guy who traded Billups and blew a bunch of cap space on Charlie V and Gordon. Ah, heck, I don't know.

It's more likely you'd get filler contracts, maybe Knight, and some picks. But the picks won't be 2014, because that one belongs to the Bobkittens (protected 1-8).

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the Pistons have massive cap room because of the expiring contracts of Calderon ($11m), Maggette ($11m), Maxiell ($5m) and Bynum ($3.25m).

On the ESPN Trade Machine, I seem to be able to trade Rudy Gay to the Pistons for anyone straight up (even a league minimum contract).

So, no salary filler is needed for a Rudy Gay trade with the Pistons.

If Ujiri is serious about tanking, then a Gay for picks trade is going to be necessary to get the ball rolling, and if it's not the Pistons, then I don't know who else has the cap room.

Outside of Drummond and maybe Monroe there is nobody on that team I even remotely like.

We can't afford to give away our only SF..... give them a SG, we have many.

I'd much rather have Monroe and Knight. Better fit for us.

What if we did DD, Lowry for Monroe, Knight and Jerebko?

If we're tanking, then we should be able to get a starting SF in the 2014 draft with a top 10 pick (Wiggins, Parker, Gordon all look pretty good at this point.)

The trick is to sabotage a young and talented roster for the coming season.

Starting Landry Fields at SF for the season should get us a top 10 pick, though it might destroy Landry's career.

I guess we could sign Alan Anderson to start when Rudy's gone.

Yeah - they have interest in Rudy Gay, so we should pretend it's just the trade proposal thread instead.

They won't offer either for Gay straight up. Those are young cheap bigs with obvious all star potential. Both are much more valuable and higher upside than Ed Davis, so it's not reasonable to expect that much of a steal.

I think Pistons' offer would be centered around Knight or Caldwell-Pope + picks.
