The roster is full, and sending him down wouldn't clear space on the roster anyway.

They can send him down, but he still counts towards that 15 man maximum.

Why the hell do teams even make second-round picks?
Because americans love underdog stories, so by having a second draft round they make bigger chances to get an underdog story :cookie:

Still think we would be better with this guy in the lineup.

no doubt, but enough of a difference? We have way too many bench players. I'm starting to get turned off this team. The Landry Fields signing really makes me confused as to why Colangelo kept mentioning how valuable cap space was only to waste it on an unlikely shot at Nash.

I think so. I just don't know who we'd get rid of though. I like McGuire/Anderson and we can't really let go of Gray in case one of Amir/Valanciunas blows a tire. The likely guy would probably be McGuire though, or Acy. And i would start Pietrus and have him split minutes with Kleiza until Anderson gets back.

Lowry/Jose
Derozan/Ross
Pietrus/Kleiza
Bargs/Davis
Valanciunas/Amir

D-Mac needs to stay, Landry could go, Acy needs to go to the D-League. To be honest, any number of guys could go. We need to try and deal some of these mediocre bench guys, and if not, which is likely, just cut one. Pietrus is better than at least 6 guys on our bench.

Why isn't acy in the D league anyways ? Instead of rotting away on the bench?

Another excuse for Casey to give Ross zero minutes. How many over the hill/bad players can we assemble? lol

Sometimes, 2nd round pick players do make history.

Take a look at Manu Ginobili case. Out of all the players drafted from that year, Ginobili can easily make top 5 players from 1999 draftees.

Just because Raps were not successful with any 2nd round picks, it doesn't mean that other teams wouldn't need 2nd round picks

Agree with you.

A lot of very good players were 2nd round picks: Mo Williams, Varejao, Boozer, Ilyasova, Monta Ellis, Lou Williams, Gortat, Pekovic, Dragic, Carl Landry, Marc Gasol, Millsap, Parsons,

Also important role players today like Korver, Pachulia, Ariza, Scola, Bass, Budinger, DeAndre Jordan, Asik, Glen Davis.

Never know...

The Toronto Raptors are searching for depth at small forward with Landry Fields and Alan Anderson out for extended time.

Mickael Pietrus is now being strongly considered as an option for the Raptors.

The Raptors already have 15 players on guaranteed contracts.

Landry Fields & Alan Anderson both out up to month so Raps have renewed interest in SF market (headed by Pietrus) even w/15 guaranteed deals

If Raps sign PIetrus, they'd have to waive somebody. Logic says Anderson and McGuire (swingmen on one-year deals) would be candidates.

We should sign Pietrus, but if we can't trade one of our players to open up a roster spot who do we waive? It should be someone who doesn't have any guaranteed money next year.

Acy or Mcguire

If the raps make a two for one trade (bargs/calderon*cough*), then the space would be there for Pietrus. Maybe this is a sign that theres a trade in the works?

I hope, but I think a trade won't happen until after Dec 15 when players that were signed in the offseason are eligible to be traded. So teams can add filers like McGuire, Gray and so on.

There's no way I would waive Fields. I'm not paying him 19 million dollars for nothing. His salary will still count against the cap until 2014. It's better for us to see his game improve a bit and dump him on a GM like Babby. If that doesn't work out package his bad contract in a larger deal.
