I know that not everybody on this board is pro tanking, but i thought that those who are should know about this. nobody has to agree with to content of this letter and it is still a legitimate point to make a move to make a run to the playoffs. Last edited by LuffyGear2; 12-05-2013 at 08:38 AM. |

![]() I don't understand this kind of stuff. Do fans that sign petitions think a good GM would make decisions in any way based on such things? To me it suggests that they doubt the qualifications of the GM, and perhaps should organize a movement to get a new GM.

![]() Sometimes leaders are afraid to make unpopular decisions and it may be that a gm has a tough time selling a decision to his boardboard.
Really doubt either scenario applies to us though. |

![]() um, how so?
Say a GM knows he needs to trade the franchise player, but he needs approval from the board. And when he pitches the idea, the board says: "no, that can't happen, we'd lose our fan base". In that case, having some kind of proof that the fan base actually is on board with that idea would strengthen his case. |

![]() Totally agree with this. A GM is not going to listen to fans simply because their job is on the line at all times. Imagine if fans in Toronto or all around Canada sent a petition to :mu: saying you should trade all of our players and acquire just Canadian talent because we are the only Canadian basketball team in the NBA. Does anyone actually think he would do something like that, answer is hell no. Most GM's know more about the game then the average fan, though their are some exceptions.

![]() This topic has been chewed up to death and beyond. As someone who's been championing a proper tank ever since the draft has been solidified as "as close to 2003 as it gets", I find it refreshing that more and more people get behind this simple idea of not being stuck in mediocrity forever. However, it is also obvious to me that to many others the pragmatic approach is simply not palatable. No amount of petitions or signatures are ever going to fix that, and most certainly it won't work on GMs out there - one simply has to assume that what's obvious to the casual (albeit passionate) fans, should be more than obvious to a professional.
