For me, Jose has always been a guy who brings the intangibles. He's got heart and he's a smart basketball player, but he just doesn't cut it defensively, especially with the slew of injuries that have passed his way. He's better suited off the bench playing 15-20 minutes. But he's dependable enough that if he has it going, he might come off the bench and play 30 minutes and finish the game.

good post Bjjs.

I agree. Although, I am still skeptical about his health.

I wonder what he would be 100%.

calderon is our only tradeable asset where we would be able to upgrade another postion without losing much at the current position... when he is healthy, trade him... Martin and Rodriguez for Jose, Wright and POB/Pops

I agree as well, but that's a lot of money to be paying your backup pg. If he can be moved to bring perhaps a vet SG to groom DD after that can get to the line and play some defence, it might be worth it.

I agree; I'm sure with Jose in the line-up, we could've won against the Nets, the Hornets, and the Pistons twice. Next 8 games we have 4 teams that we should beat (starting tonight, and then three road games against Philly, NY, and Indiana) and 4 teams that should beat us (Boston twice, SA, and Orlando). I think it will be a good measure of how well our team is playing. 4-4 would be normal; I hope that we can steal one against a Pierce-less Boston and catch the Spurs off guard.

Also, people here have seemed to forget about Banks. Though he's still below Jack and Jose, he's played well over this stretch of games; it wouldn't be fair to put him back on the bench when he's proven that he can be solid for 10-15 mins/game.

Personally, I like both Jack and Jose. I've always liked the prospect of Bosh's buddy being here, but Jose is also smart and knows how to play basketball the right way... Having said that, I wouldn't mind seeing Jose traded for a defensive stopper that can play multiple positions, and soon, while his value is still high.

Agree for the most part except the last point. Wouldn't his trade value be higher if he'd get back in the lineup producing first?

It'll be tough to find a good spot for Banks once Josť is fully back agian, for a decent 10+ minutes that is. Maybe the Raptors should trade him when his trade value is 'high'. His stock is probably up.

Well, that, and Had surgery on his hand and couldn't shoot.

Oh, yes, then there was the 6" Hamstring tear he had to try to let heal because you know.... ya need them hammy's if you're gonna be scampering about.

Other than that ya, Jose has always shown himself to be a lazy guy, so he must have been sitting on his ass eating cheetos!

Jose can take his time healing we are playing weak injured riddled teams at this time and tonight a Bob Cat team that has only one win on the road.. Even if we had Banks as the starter we still would have been on this win streak.Too bad for the injury, Jose would have had a decent chance to make the all star team.He would have been shitting assisits from his ass and making shots while this team started to play better d.
Now we will be playing Boston who will probably have Pierce, Garnett and Rondo out of the line up. If Jose was in the line up and healthy he would have been putting some big numbers. i.e he had 22 double doubles last year 25th in the NBA. He would have had alot more this year.

You're right, his stock will go up if he can get back and perform at a high level. But that's not guaranteed. If he comes back with low confidence though, playing bad defense and not making his shots, he will be hard to trade. I know what you mean, though. A GM would have to be really high on him to take him just off an injury - and frankly, I highly doubt BC or JT would trade him now, while the season is still so young and the team is finding its character. Jose is certainly a talented player, and a proven leader; I have no doubt that he can adjust his game to match that of the team's.

Nor do I think that he should be traded, yet. Sure, Jack and Banks have filled in nicely. But Jack was nowhere near the player he is now in the beginning of the season. He has had several games where he has gotten almost triple-double numbers, but remember the games that he was given lots of time on the floor and was generally unimpressive? Can we be sure that this is the Jack that will show up consistently from now on?

And while Banks is a solid 3rd string PG, I don't know if he can be the backup to Jack, playing big minutes. We just haven't seen enough of him. He's done well in the playing time that he's gotten, but can he come in for Jack and play on the same level if Jack gets in foul trouble and Triano is forced to play him for 25 minutes?

As it stands, we have the same situation that we had a few years back: two talented PGs that bring something different to the table. That's not a bad thing at all. I'm sure almost every team (outside maybe Utah, New Orleans and Phoenix) would love to replace their 1st and 2nd string PGs with Jose and Jack. We shouldn't devalue the pair.

All I'm saying is that before we trade Jose, we need to be sure that Banks will at least play hard on defense every game, and that Jack will be able to handle playing 30+ mins/game, something that he wasn't able to do so well in the beginning of the season.

He clearly needed to find a way to rehab that improved his strength and flexibility to where he wasn't going to keep getting hurt by just playing.
It's not like he's getting banged up by falling and hitting the floor hard or that kind of thing. He keeps pulling/tearing muscles and such.
He didn't come to camp ready to play and it showed.
I'm as disappointed as anyone, he's one of my favs.
