Anybody planning to go? I think they did something similar for the Leafs last season. For those of you who went or know someone who went, was it better than watching it at home with the TV?

I went to all the Leafs ones last year (I work downtown).. The atmosphere is absolutely unreal it made me actually care about the Leafs and not about the second round of the NBA playoffs...

If you want a great atmosphere definitely go. If you are looking to be comfortable though while you watch it, this isn't for you (apparently its supposed to rain Saturday).

I doubt the atmosphere is as good for the Raptors. And if it rains it'll be even worse.

i would think this would make a good alternative to paying through the roof for a ticket. It will feel pretty close to being there in person and it's free!

Pessimistic as always?

If anyone thinks about this like you do, there will be sure no atmosphere :)

Valid. I believe the same thing. But it did take the Leafs a couple games before the atmosphere turned out to be completely crazy.

But for a team I actually care about I'm pretty sure the atmosphere will still be great and as fancylad mentioned, definitely a much better alternative than paying through the roof for playoff tickets if the whole purpose is to soak in the atmosphere (let's face it, watching games on TV is much better than watching in person unless you have court side seats).

Regardless, I live in the condos at MLS so I can keep y'all posted about what Game 1 is like. I'm cautiously optimistic about the atmosphere turning out to be great.

You're right, it'll be a better atmosphere.

That would be appreciated. I want to go to Game 1 but my friends seem to be busy. We definitely want to go to at least one of these.

Jeff B: TV coverage claiming the Raptors aren't as well known as the Jays and Leafs? - Blasphemy!!

moments later

Jeff B: I doubt the atmosphere at the Raptors playoff party is as good as the Leaf's play-off party

And? Part of the reason IS the coverage! Never said the atmosphere would be horrible or bad. Do you think the atmosphere will be as crazy? It's about being realistic....i guess that's pessimistic though. I hope the atmosphere is as crazy as last year.

Just find a good sports bar. Not the main ones like real sports or whatever, but one less known. Those are the ones where you can find people who seriously care for the raps. Make sure they'll be showing it though, and research the bar ahead of time; don't just go walking about hoping to run into one.

for some reason I've had trouble finding sports bars downtown. Most of the ones I know about are in the yonge and eg area

Isn't there a bar called Hoops downtown?

I wanted to go before going to the Raps game a couple weeks ago, was shocked to find out we would have had to make reservations. Isn't that place massive?

It's massive for sure but so many go through its doors so seating is tough to find. I definitely recommend making reservations. But if you don't mind sitting or standing at the bar or on bar tables/stools you're fine as well.
