Question Parker Heading Back to Europe?

Don't know how legit this rumour is, but according to an Israeli source Olympiakos from Greece is offering AP and pretty sweet deal. Considering his age now, he won't make better money then what they are apparently offering. Take the money and run Anthony.

Apparently another European team they have their eyes set on Delfino too.

Quote:
According to eurobasket.com Dimitris Itoudis is heading to the USA to try and get the signing of Carlos Delfino for Panathinaikos. The argentinian guard/forward (1.99-G/F) of the Toronto Raptors has an italian passport that allows him to play as an EU player. Panathinaikos seems to be hot on transfers this summer to regain ground in the euroleague from which they were knocked ou quite early this year. Carlos Delfino was also rumored by greek sports websites to be a target for Olympiakos.

Parker is an American. He must want a shot at an NBA title before he retires. If thats not in Toronto then so be it but I really don't see him bailing on the league.

I actually respect Navarro's decision. Didn't like the NBA, so went back home. I dig that.

As for AP, you have to do what's best for you personally and what you feel is right. If that's taking this contract then again, so be it.

Where in my post did I insinuate that people who dont think like me are clueless? I just stated my opinion on each situation. I just think JCN leaving has more to do with it than just money and being home, I do question his heart and his compettitive edge when he leaves the best league in the sport that he plays. Thats just me though. Agree to disagree.

You and me both think he should stay. the difference is I respect his decision and you say he is and idiot for leaving. He doesnt think like you so he is an idiot.

His competiveness and heart?

Maybe he doesn't want to play in a league where the referees are fixing games and the league officials are more concerned with revenues and what the players wear to the arena before the game than the actual product on the floor.

I dont think hes an idiot, I think hes a pansy. But I call a lot of the players pansies for different reasons so dont take it too hard dawg.

I bet you nothing like this even came into his thought process. And almost every league is like the words you described in the last part of your post, all of them are fucked one way or another besides maybe the NFL. Basketballs problem is trying to go global and moving away from their original fanbase with a lot of their decisions. Stern is trying to increase revenue the wrong way IMO putting all his eggs in one basket.

He really needs to clean up the league for 2008, starting with completely new officials sans some of the younger guys. I dont want to know one name of any referee coming up next year, they think theyre the fucking show and its fucking annoying.

I think Garbajosa made it pretty clear that the NBA disappointed him somewhat. And you can't question his heart. I think he and Navarro would question the league's commitment to showcasing the best basketball, and that it is the best league by a reputation that they don't do much to back up. The NBA is seriously all about the money. The games are secondary. How many times have we heard - "it's a business first"? Eventually that kind of approach deteriorates what created the successful business model in the first place.

I agree with all of you in the sense that the NBA has a serious problem with the fact that everything seems to be about the money. But you should watch refereing here. Its fucking terrible, much much worse. Only thing is better is the fact that we dont have the "superstar" treatment where the lebrons dont get a thousand call in their favour.
The true reason many people cant stand the NBA outside the US is the fact that is much more individualistic that he international level.

I personally think both styles have their pros and cons and IMO the perfect thing would be a fusion of both. Thats why I love the Raptors. Thats what I think they are trying to do. Not only because you are bringing international players, but with the idea that every player is important. Team play wins.
