over/under PLUS • PLAYOFF PAYOFF • 19 April afternoon
Here's how it's going to work.
The points you earned during the ten rounds of the regular season will turn into dollars in the bankroll you want to grow bigger and bigger. The richest player at the end wins.
Every game up to the Finals will offer a chance to make picks for both the over/under and the winner against the spread.
Each correct pick on the over/under through the first round of the playoffs will net you $5. But incorrect picks will cost you $5. In subsequent playoff rounds the betting values will go to 10 dollars and then 25 dollars. For as long as the Raptors are in the running, the picks in their games will be worth double. So $10 dollars in round 1, $20 in the second round, and fifty in the Eastern Conference finals.
In betting against the spread, you get a chance to double up on your winnings. Incorrect picks will not have any effect in the first round. In the second round incorrect picks against the spread will cost you half of the ten dollars lost in the over/under. In the third round they will fully double up the losses incurred in the over/under.
You do not need to bet on every game. Nor any game if you so choose.
You can make picks in any over/under without making picks against the spread (although in the first round that would not make any sense since there is no downside in round 1). The picks against the spread are add-on bets rather than standalone possibilities. The matching o/u bet will need to be made before making any bet against the spread, while the o/u can be solely a standalone bet if you so choose in later rounds when wrong picks will cost you.
A correct bet against the spread will not erase any losses of an o/u bet. It will only double the winnings, with the possibility of adding to losses (but only in future rounds) if both are incorrect.
With so many options, I'll allow any additions or subtractions to be posted in the appropriate thread. Just remember that I may need some help if i miss something in the tally.
How you manage your bankroll is entirely up to you. Just make sure it keeps growing. You can only make as many picks as you can afford to lose money on. If you blow it all then you will be eliminated.
Anyone can play. But only those with a bankroll earned through the regular season will have their picks tallied up.
