Agree with what LX said above. So Under.

What makes him turn on the light switch now? He doesn't like rebounding and is not good at it. I would have him at 6RPG if there is a season next year.

I say over.

He'll start the season strong and average 7+ before the all star break, then tail off towards the end and finish with 6.5 to 7.

6.5 really isn't out of reach for him, he did get 6.1 the year before last.

He's only averaged more than 6rpg once in 5yrs, and that was barely. It's not in his make up. Now if he decides to play a lot more inside then i would say it's possible, but that's unlikely. I hope he can average 7rpg, but i doubt it.

Remember that he won't be playing next to Reggie next year.

And, DD should take more of the offensive load.

I'm by no means a huge Bargs fan, but I think that 6.5+ rebounds is easily within his ability, even with his effort level factored in.

It's because he didn't play enough games to qualify. That's done to make sure someone with fewer games doesn't get compared with someone that might have had higher numbers with fewer games themselves. It shows everyone with similar criteria. In this case Andrea still would not have vaulted ahead of anyone on this list. As far as rpg, he'd make 20th.

Bargs 18.6 ppg, 7.1 reb, 1.9 ast next season.

slight drop in points because Bayless will flirt with 15 ppg next season

It's possible, but shouldn't be considered likely. Reggie didn't play next to him all that much last season. Did the rebound numbers change in all those games where Reggie sat?

I go back to his reaction time. It's important, and it's just not there.

I think that he'll be around 6rpg with the outside chance of him getting 6.5rpg which would mean even here. More then that is a pipe dream at this point. Besides, he's 7' 250lbs, bohoo he has to go up against the centers in the league.
Well, I see a good chance he improves his defensive rebounding - as I stated before, Casey has mentioned making the other bigs the designated helpers, which means more rebounds fall to Bargs to grab. I've already stated that this will mean a worse rebounding club overall, but inflated numbers for Bargs. And size is not his problem inside, he simply isn't as strong as most Cs in this league.

Agreed on the reaction time. He will never be a good rebounder. But 7 rebounds is not good - so I say it is in his reach.

I believe that Bargs will never average 7 or more rebounds in a season with at least a minimum of 50 games played.

I'm not sure if I agree with that. Wouldn't both Davis and Val play close to the rim offensively? I can see that being a major issue. If Bargs plays well with a real center - as shown he can - and team defense improves enough with Casey, wouldn't the question might be whats more important - Bargs' offense or Davis' defense. When Val comes, I can see Bargs +7 and I can see Davis coming off the bench or traded.

....and I'm just thinking out loud...

O.K. I'll say it.....maybe he's not that bright.
He came off like a lunk-head in proclaiming that he's "a four"...like that means he can then play "basketball and not reboundball", so he's excused from rebounding and help defense. Does this mean when his starting centre is going to war against 2 or 3 physical bigs, he'll leave it to James Johnson and Demar to go in and mix it up?

That's what I've been seeing for five years. Actually, I had high hopes when he battled with Dwight pretty well in his rookie season.

I've gone for under. But listening to what a lot of people have said i'm not so sure now. There are reasons they could drop and reasons they could rise. Somewhere around the 6rpg sounds realistic (and would not be terrible,) but surely that means a best case scenario is around 7-7.5?

must say the questions posed have been pretty much perfect. DD at around 20ppg is just about where i see him, and Bargs at 6.5rpg is just about where i see him!

Demar to mix it up? okay.

He actually came off pretty witty with his reboundball comment... but I guess a quick wit is overrated in basketball. I find that his calm demeanor hurts his image in this market with most critics needing a loud personality to satisfy their preference.

As for the 6.5, I'd say that's probably what should be expected, I doubt he drops below the 6 like some seem to be hoping for..... and he could easily pick it up to 7-8 if he puts more of an emphasis on it and with the appropriate message being given.

bargnani is a complete chump so i would guess no but who knows. Maybe one day if the italian economy becomes the fastest growing like germany he could possibly get the nowitski call and maybe see 6.5 balls a game hit him in the face due to the minutes and other bigs being scared to breathe on him. and yes, a ball hitting you in the face gets chalked up as a board by the scorekeepers when your selling jerseys

luckily for me italy appears to be on the brink of insolvency so it looks as if i will be able to continue the bitching and moaning about the chumps 3rpg average

truth be told i'm probably more inclined to post here with a cancelled season. The nba at this point is just making me flat out bitter in which case i usually just lurk around here without interacting like a rapist in the woods.
