Our Team numbers so far this season

Opponents PPG: 100.6 (27th)

Points per game: 96.9 (19th)

Assists per game: 20 (24th)

Rebounds per game: 40.6 (22nd)

If these trends continue we're in for an extremely long season.

pzabby 11-17-2012 03:07 PM

why do i get the feeling we're a worse team this year than last? and that we'll end up with the 4th pick, and not keep it, and watch okc draft another harden?

Claudius 11-17-2012 03:10 PM

We look worse because we want to push the ball. That whole philosophy is dumb if you want to focus on defence.

You need to be a half court team to play real good defence.

This whole, we want to be a running team that's a BC philosophy is freaking horrendous.

Bargn88 11-17-2012 03:12 PM

Claudius brings up a good point. Last year we were so commited to defence, and now this year were trying to incooporate a new offence almost at the expense of the defence.

Dario 11-17-2012 03:13 PM

we need to rebound the ball and make some freethrows, and get some good shots man..

Meeehh, they want to run when they make stops. Right now we're not making stops consistently so we're not even running that much. Would you really call us a run and gun team right now? Especially since Calderon has started our last 6 games.

This is going to come out terribly, but I can tell, you haven't played basketball or know someone, who has played basketball at a high level. Sorry, I know it sounds mean and assholish, but it's true.

We actually look better with Calderon, we looked better on the defensive end.

You can not run and play smash mouth defence. Well, you can, but by game 60, you'll be done and be lazy. We need to commit to either being a true running team or a half court team that wants to play defence. Not this hybrid bullshit.

And please stop with the Calderon bullshit. Guys don't run their lanes on this team, when we DO run. We're a damn fine unit running when we have Amir, Jose, Ed, DD on the same floor as they run their lanes well. Some of these other guys, are out to lunch.

Can't argue with your logic

Better with calderon. You're the one out to lunch on that one. And what bullshit, I said Calderon is not a fast paced PG. You honestly going to disagree with that? And yeah, thanks for not coming off assholish.....asshole!

All I know is I'm discouraged by what I've seen so far. Witnessed blowouts, blown leads, and a 5 point 4th quarter win. The Raps have one good, convincing, complete game so far through nearly 10 to start the season. The worst part is,if this continues, they won't get that draft pick unless its #1 overall. I'm not buying injuries as an excuse either because the talk has been"this is the deepest team in years". Changes need to be made very soon,I can feel the morale getting low, maybe not for the team, but the fanbase.

ZanTheMan 11-17-2012 04:08 PM

Yeah, I don't know where the whole "deepest team in years" bs came from, cause that's a straight lie. Our PG depth is the deepest in years, true, but the rest of the roster isn't any deeper than in previous years.

I for one am gonna blame our start to injuries because anytime you lose your best player you're gonna struggle. That's why I don't really care about our current team stats, I'll bet you we'll rise in every category when Lowry returns, he just has that much of an impact on the game, both offense and defense.

So come back Kyle!:dancing:

I disliked the whole emphasis on offense that came from the top since the summer. Everything is ass backwards once again.

Here's an interesting number. In wins Bargnani averages 27 minutes. In losses, aside from today where it was scrub time ridiculously early, he averages 37. Even today you could see the results as the two quarters that filled his playing time were the two quarters where once again 30 points were given up. The pushing of the pace particularly makes zero sense the way this team is constructed with Bargnani as something of a centerpiece. It just magnifies the weaknesses, and highlights the problematic hybrid nature that Claudius alluded to.

But there is still some clarity gained through all this. I'm just not sure this team, and their 800,000 data inputs from overhead cameras is going to glean anything, or make anything but cosmetic shifts. Until there is change at the very top.

I don't want to overreact but I'm getting impatient and frustrated because I don't see and understand Colangelo's vision and plan for this team. I say give him the season because its early and things could get turned around but moves need to be made, not necessarily trades either.

Bargnani needs to be brought off the bench as a 6th man at this point. Not as a demotion but for overall effectiveness. Its year 7 and we need to start looking at him in a different light. AB would be effective as a reserve strictly to provide an offensive boost, everything else he does would be a bonus.

well said.

also, when the raps win, bargs averages 9 ppg but when they lose he averages near 19 ppg.

ClingRap 11-17-2012 05:52 PM

if you input those numbers into a computer that generates a corresponding image you'd get a tank.

The MVP of West Hollywood 11-17-2012 06:17 PM

We have a defensive coach, but not a defensive roster. Bargnani/Valanciunas is the single worst defensive starting frontline in the league... Sorry Val fans but like most rookies, he sucks defensively right now. And Bargnani is Bargnani. Then Jose and Demar and Ed and Kleiza are all terrible defenders, Ross is a rookie, Anderson is nothing special defensively... other than Amir, Lowry when he's healthy and I guess Dom McGuire, we have crap defensive players.

This roster just flat out sucks without Lowry there. Defensively we have huge liabilities dragging us down and offensively we have weak shooting, no post scorers, and of our 3 most talented players one is injured (Lowry) and the other clearly gave no f*cks this summer (Bargnani). If you look at the schedule until mid December, expect us to get our a** whooped. Honestly looking at the sked we're going to be something like 6-19 or 5-20 after the hard stretch is over. BC sucks
