Our own Resticted or FA ?

My question is essentially ON JB and Gray.

if we don't trade or anything to replace them jb at backup pg and gray as a starter/backup Center, what type of contract do you propose to them ?
or in fact what do you think BC will give them ?

Alex 05-21-2012 11:04 AM

JB if we're keeping him 11m 2years and Gray 3mill 1 year

carp 05-21-2012 11:18 AM

Gray will get 2.5 per for 3 years and Bayless is likely 9 over 3 years, both good guys with great dispositions but obviously depth guys.

MrClutch 05-21-2012 11:27 AM

if we draft lillard, jb is gone and I can see gray coming back on a 1 yr 2.5 mill contract

Ball Don't Lie 05-21-2012 11:44 AM

No one is going to give Gray a 3 year deal. At most I'd give him 2 years 3.5-4 mil total.

I wouldnt offer Bayless a contract.

I am with Thrills, except that any of these decisions are going to be made after the draft. Depending on what transpires there (do we draft or trade, who comes in as a result and so on), the value of certain FAs to this team might increase or decrease.

LET'S GO RAPTORS!!!!! 05-21-2012 12:04 PM

If ED,Amir,BArgs and JonasV are all kept, Gray is as good as gone. I like Lillard but he is also a scoring PG and is only 2 years younger then JB. JB plays well as a starter but is horrible as a sub, I think it's a mental thing. Anywho, if JB doesn't start here I don't want him on the team. I think BC does everything to preserve cap space. I also hope BC uses capspace for a trade, you can't trust BC in FA and other teams have a lot more cap space than us.

Bankiz 05-21-2012 04:27 PM

gray a 2.5M/years for the next 3 years.

JB to me need to be trade and sign whereever a team will want him. max 5M. at the very max !!!

EggsToTheBBQ 05-21-2012 06:04 PM

JB will probably be back, unless BC spends to acquire a PG, or drafts a PG/SG. Even then we'll still need back court depth. DD, Calderon and Forbes are the only guards under contract for next year.

It definitely sets the stage for BC's moves this summer. There are obvious roster spots open in the back court and on the wing.

I doubt that both Gray and Magloire will be back. With Alabi showing signs of being serviceable for short stretches, JV incoming, ED playing like he needs more time on the court, JJ and Kleiza playing PF in smaller line ups, not to mention Bargs and Amir, there really aren't too many minutes left over.

I think that we'll have one banger off the bench for when the games get really physical, and I think that it will be Magloire. He's at the point in his career where playing that role makes sense for him. Also, he's very good at that role. Gray wants time on the court which really isn't available.

I hate to break it to the Gray supporters, but there just isn't room on the roster for him, except in one role, which I don't think is the role he wants to play.

weren't you the one who said Barbosa was worth like 3m and Chandler is worth like 4.5m? but you'd pay JB 5.5m a year?

JB's QO i believe is 4.5Mil.

So i'm assumimg he'll get roughly 3yrs/13-14Mil.

Admiral 05-21-2012 11:19 PM

i don't want bayless back, i just don't like his game, i'd rather he just go somewhere else, even if he is good, i just don't want to see him on this team anymore

moremilk 05-21-2012 11:40 PM

it's all about demand for them and whatever other plans we have
it's pretty safe to say that many other things will come before we make a decision on gray/bayless, unless other teams will jump the gun

but let's face it, who starts their off season going after guys like gray ... there are bigger fish to fry before their turn will come up.

if the price is right, I wouldn't mind either, especially gray who provides something nobody else really does on this roster. For Bayless is much easier to find a similar skillset.

this

I'd offer Bayless a plane ticket on the first flight out of town.

MBailey85 05-22-2012 12:07 PM

There's better big men for Gray's expected price range than Aaron,I hope they pass on bringing him back. I much rather see them bring in a veteran like Nazr Mohammed or Joel Prybilla.

I remember the game vs Miami(which I attended) on 03/30...Gray started and lacked so much energy or awreness it was unbelievable,TO was done double digits in minutes. As soon as Gray hit the bench, they finally started rebounding and moving without the ball.

You haven't watched Nazr enough then. Pryzbilla, meanwhile, isn't coming here and is at the very tail-end of his career... he's already one foot out the door.

Has he earned that? Just because his one year qualifying price is 4 doesn't mean he warrants that or even that long term rate either. If he gets that much he'll be gone.

He'll easily get 4Mil imo.

Agreed. I really hope we're not the ones to do it.
