Default Our next 10 games

I was gonna post this in Jeffs but thought I'd expand it to look at what is the easiest 10 games any team may play over a 10 game span this season;

JAN
Wed 27 vs Miami
Thu 28 @ New York
Sun 31 vs Indiana
FEB
Tue 02 @ Indiana
Wed 03 vs New Jersey
Sun 07 vs Sacramento
Wed 10 vs Philadelphia
Wed 17 vs Memphis
Fri 19 @ New Jersey
Sat 20 vs Washington

If we win vs MIA theres a lot of potential to go 9-1 or 10-0. If we dont win at least 7 of these then yikes.

The game after that is at home vs Portland, we should win that too like we did against San Antonio, Dallas, Lakers, especially if we're red hot going into it

We need to get these games because March is hard again. We have 5 back to backs and play 16 games in 26 days from March 5th-31st.

i think that the only team in that lineup of games that can give us trouble is Memphis, and maybe sacremento because they have a very athletic front court but other then that we have the potential to go 8-2 at least

If the 5th spot eludes the Raps after this stretch, I'd be somewhat surprised.

If they lose to the nets... that means they wouldn't be going 10-0...

And no, don't blow up the team, ever because blowing up would involve moving Bosh... and Bosh is good at basketball.

The only thing I want happening before the deadline is Calderon out, Butler (or defensive SG) in, Banks as backup Pg.

I'm not optimistic enough to aim for 10-0, but they had better come out at least 7-3, like you said.

Agreed. The Raps need to win at least 7 of these games.

The first 4 games are the ones that worry me the most. If the Raps split those games, I'll be dissapointed, but not extremely surprised. They should beat Miami, but the Heat are a decent road team, so it's not automatic. The Knick game is sort of unfortunate timing. New York got totally embarassed by the Mavs, so I think they'll be looking to have a good week. Plus, it's tough to beat the same team twice on the road. Then, after that, the Raps have to play Indiana twice in a row. There is no excuse for not beating Indiana at home. But it's difficult to beat the same team twice in a row, without some games in between, even if the opponent isn't great. With such a short period between the re-match, the needed adjustments are fresh in the loser's memory. This is professional sports; it's hard to beat the same team twice in 3 nights. I really wish we were playing the second Indiana game a little later on. Even though the competition isn't great, if the Raps take 3 of the first 4, I'd be quite happy with that.

On paper, I think the Raps have a really good shot to take 5 of the 6 games that follow the second Indiana game.

Feb 3 - NJ - The Nets are terrible, and it's the 2nd night of a b2b for NJ.

Feb 7 - Kings - It's an early Sunday start. Bad news for a west coast team. Plus, the Kings are aweful on the road. Sacremento is a completely different team away from Archo.

Feb 10 - 76ers - It's the 2nd night of a b2b for Philly. That helps compensate for the fact that Philly's running game is hard for the Raps to stop.

Feb 17 - Memphis - It's the 2nd night of a b2b for the Grizz. One thing concerns me about this game: it's the first game back from the All-Star break for the Raps. They won't have played for a week. Sometimes players start out slow the first half of the first game back from a significant break. Just something I've noticed over the years.

Feb 19 - @ NJ - It's a road game, but it's against the Nets. The Raps have to take care of business.

Feb 20 - Wizards - Yes, it's the 2nd night of a b2b for the Raps, but it's also a 2nd night of a b2b for Washington. The Raps are actually okay on the 2nd night of a b2b, so long as their opponent is also on the 2nd night of a b2b. The two times the Raps won while playing on the 2nd night of a b2b (@ Chicago and versus the Spurs) their opponent was facing the same situation.

Yeah, if they play to their potential, the Raps should take care of business against the Blazers. Toronto has demonstrated a tendency to rise up to the level of their competition when playing tougher teams at the ACC. Also, the Blazers will be playing on the 2nd night of a b2b, while the Raps will have had a couple of nights of rest since their last game.

If you add the Portland game onto the stretch of games, I really hope the Raps go at least 8-3...but I'd love to see them go 9-2.

Default Potential for a huge run coming up

The next 10 games are all easily winnable games with only Miami and Memphis having winning records and both of these games happen to be at home. The rest of the games are all against teams we should definitely be able to beat and we also have a lot of home games during this stretch. If this team could go something like 8-2 or even 9-1 it would go a long way towards legitimizing this recent run of solid basketball being played. We could all but secure the fifth seed. Hopefully we can beat up on these weak teams and make a statement that the raps could at least make some noise in the playoffs.

I'd like to get a buffer between us and the 9 position in the East. It's too close for comfort right now.

I predict a 7-3 record, assuming we continue to play well.
I realize this may sound pessimistic, but these are all professional teams and playing Indy 2 in row is tough.
Hoping for better ... but I would be more than content with 7-3.

I'll be honest, anything less than 8-2 would be a major dissapointment imo. You know you will lose one game when nothing will go right, we're still relying too much on jump shots, and while we have so many shooters that it's rare for all to have an off night, 10 games is a long time And I think the games against miami and NY we are about 60% favorites to win, so that makes it about 50% likely to lose one of the two.

If we go 10-0, we'd probably be promoted to the big 4 circle, and we'd be very close record wise to even the 2nd spot. So that would be like nirvana - but let's face it, the odds are very slim for that to happen.
