Dude, you don't want A list FA, and you don't want any of these either? You do realize we need to add 4-5 players in the next 2 weeks, right? I say we'll likely end up with two of those players + 2 minimum type players.

if we go after chandler at center (if)
we can assume we will need another center to backup him this year, i don't think alabi is ready right now.
so i will go after Hayes or mohammed as backup.

we will still need a 3rd pf and a 3rd sf :
pf: r evans for cheap or smith.
sf : mbah a moute or novak would be cheap as 3rd men. battier would be nice.

We have 3 PF's as it is, Bargnani, Davis, Amir. The one thing we don't need is a PF.

i just don't see a point to add anyone above minimum. Except you saying "we need to". no you don't. You need to tank.

Tanking is for the birds. You never tank, and you can't guarantee that you'll get to handpick your FA's next year either. Too many assume you simply go out into a field of free agents and decide which one looks juiciest and put him in your basket.

Also, we already know that tanking doesn't ensure lottery luck.... this team needs to focus on correcting bad habits and building towards something. Momentum is everything. You can't just decide one year that this is the year to try to win.

Kwame Brown might be worth a flyer. He played relatively well last year when given some minutes. He's a big body that can rebound, and he wouldn't cost a lot.

Chandler would be a nice acquisition, but I don't see Denver letting him go.

Your best bet is to tank.

cool, just make sure you have your new Vince / TMac / Bosh before you do.
You get the core, then you start adding Kwame Brown, Carl Landry, Josh McRoberts and the other 3-4 mil a year players from this thread.

amen to that.

my ideal is now (after u informed me dal is a cert for miami,) okur and battier on good contracts. If we can't achieve that, then look elsewhere. No bad contracts but look for players who will be part of the process of our improving and be good mentors for the young players.

Vince was the 5th pick, TMac was 8th, Bosh isn't in that discussion in my mind, you must have meant Bogut... we should totally make a play for Bogut. Who's with me? Ed Davis, Jose Calderon and Cash for an ABBA frontcourt! (Andrew Bogut Bargnani Andrea).

Tanking makes it harder to lure free agents as well. We're nearly guaranteed another lottery pick this year and hope you get lucky on the draw but don't pansy around trying to get the #1 pick, shit happens and things work themselves out. Right the ship and good things follow.

Even if Bosh is in the discussion, he was a 4th pick - and Wade was 5th. So there's that too.

Bogut would be a fantastic pickup. Might cost too much to get when you consider Val coming over next year. No way Davis is enough for Milwaukee to say yes.

No doubt you're right... but there was odd talk surrounding Bogut and the Bucks last year.... not sure what else would get it done.... they'd probably ask for Val.

I think even with JV coming, Bogut, Bargnani, Amir and JV would be a huge frontcourt and probably one of the best in the league for many years. And having three guys that could play both C and PF would be huge.

You sir are an Idiot.
Tanking kills morale and doesnt test players potential. Not to mention it undermines everything these players have worked for all thier lives and the coaches lives.

YOu attract good players with great top down management, ability to sign great free agents and heart.

Tanking is the equivalent to going on welfare. Looking for a freebie handout. Ever since Boston did this, everyone thinks its the end all to being a great club. You couldnt be farther from the truth.

when I say "tank", I mean "don't spend money on upgrades". I thought that's obvious to anyone. You Raptors don't have to try to lose games. You'll lose them anyway if you don't start adding free agents.
Obviously, you won't tell the coach to tank. And you won't tell your players to tank. There are serious fines for that.

Anyway, "idiot" seems a bit harsh. Then again, maybe you are the smartest person here. If so, please, go ahead, teach me. I even vote for a thread where b55bgc teaches everyone smart things about important stuff.
Calling each other "idiots" is slightly counter productive though. A smart person like yourself should know.
