According to Doug Smith in this mornings blog the Raptors have 70 Million commited and are only looking to spend the Veteran minimum contract which would be 700,000 to 1.2 million. And one of the names being talked about is believe it or not Juan Dixon. Forget Maggette,Pietris,Posey or any player of that magnitude coming here this summer.

http://thestar.blogs.com/raptors/

Out of that bunch i'd take Roger Mason.

Would love Tony Allen, but I think that's a pipe dream. He's one of those players that is about to breakout any season now. The most realistic option of the four names you mentioned would be Mason who was great energy off the bench player for Washington last season. Juan didn't and still won't fit this team. Too small to be effective at SG in my opinion. Bring on Mason.

I think the easiest option there is Tony Allen, but Roger Mason is a combo guard we can use. What if Roko doesn't live up to the hype? Remember Uros Slokar and guys like Michael Bradley and Arujao.

Mason is pretty decent, which makes me think we aint the only team that could use him.

I'm pretty sure his agent knows that.

Mason's not gonna sign for peanuts. He could have signed a huge term last season, didn't and had a better season than last year.

With that being said, I'd love Tony Allen - even if he is a douche.

Would you not think that from a financial point of view, that Mason is alot more feasible than Allen? I think out of the two the one that's going to get an inflated contract would be Allen. Tony should get alot more in the market than Mason should. Or maybe I'm wrong and think more of Allen than I do Mason.

I actually think that Allen might get a smaller contract than Mason because Mason was a pretty big factor on that team even contending for a spot in March etc.

Allen kind of disappeared this season because of the strength of the Celtics and he still didn't seem to have the same mobility he did prior to his injury. Really, he's about a 3 million/year player and I think, unless someone goes nuts, that's what he'll sign for.

It would depend on Allen's health and his knee, but yes, I do think Mason would come cheaper (because he's younger), but I still think he'd get more than 1.2 million.

I don't necessarily think he disappeared, but more overshadowed by a loaded Celtics squad. You add him to our roster and there's a good chance he starts instead of Parker. Just my opinion though.

But true, his prior injury to his knee might be a concern on its own.

Allens a big risk at this point if you sign him beyond 2 years. His defence is incredible at times, but hes injury prone and his offence is still sorta lacking even though he does take good shots.

I'd prefer Mason at this point as well. Hes a very solid role player and has improved himself 10x from the last time we saw him.

Ok well first off, I liked Dixon and all but he's not coming back.

Eddie House would be a good back-up for Jose
30 yrs / 7.5 ppg / 1.9 ast / $1.5 million

Tony Allen would be our 3rd stringer SG, IF Delfino stays
26 yrs / 6.6 ppg / 1.5 ast / $1.9 million

Roger Mason i would actually take first of all these guys
27 yrs / 9.1 ppg / 1.7 ast / $0.8 million

Mason would be a great back-up for Jose. He's young, put up some great numbers last year, and is cheap.

Tony Allen is pretty much useless seeing as Delfino would play in front of him.

Eddie House is not bad, except he's 30 and had worse numbers than Mason.

Mason>>>>>House>>>>>Allen>>>>>Dixon

I agree. I would prefer Mason out of that bunch of players as a whole.

Probably to give himslef that option prior to July 1st (Before he became a FA) in case in could be done. It's become very apparent that Delfino won't be back.
