He's an RFA. If theres no qualifying offer before July 1, then he becomes a UFA.

So because of the qualifying offer, BC retains right of first refusal. Meaning, if Los was to sign a low-ball offer sheet somewhere (which he wont, but hypothetically lets say interest in him was down) then BC could match that deal.

Also (I could be wrong here. Might be getting mixed up between sports) do teams not get compensation if another team signs their RFA?

Basically, the qualifying offer just means Delfino can't walk without BC having a say in it.

in basketball there is no compensation if you lose a RFA, and you are right, the only reason he was signed to a qualifying offer is to maintain the rights. Having the rights allows us to keep our options open, we can sign and trade (assuming he would get more than MLE from some other team - unlikely as it is), or we can match if he gets a very low offer. There's also the remote possibility that he remains with us if he can't get anything bettre than our qualifying offer. The europeans apparently are only offering around 3.5, so he might consider staying here where he has a chance at a better contract after next season - anything is possible.
