Raptors One year later.....same old same old

He atributed his lack of rebounding a year ago to laziness last season, has he seemed less "Lazy" this season.....has he improved in that area? BTW, 1 double double this season.

Oh and apparently after todays game he was asked about his lack of rebounding and his answer was "It's called Basketball, not reboundBall"

Article from last March....

Quote:
Bargnani is asked how he gets beat on the boards.

"Being lazy maybe," he says. "That's the only reason it can be. I've got the body, I've got everything to take 10 rebounds a game. It's just sometimes I get lazy."

He needs to fix that, obviously. He needs to play with more focus.

"Yeah," Bargnani agrees. "More focus. You said it. More focus and don't get lazy."

Quote:
"When he becomes a very, very good rebounder, he's going to be a complete player." Triano said.

Absolutely."

That's being very, very sure about someone who has managed consecutive double-figure games just twice this season.

NBA.com: Toronto's Bargnani still searching for a little consistency

Derozan is starting to prove that he's more efficient offensively. And if Bargs isn't the go to guy, should he really be on the floor, playing against starters?... While we are in tank mode, sure.

The tank ideal just placates me; more of a joke though.

It's a poorly written sentence. People make a case for Bargs being on the floor solely because of his scoring ability. But if Derozan proves to be a more efficient scorer by the end of the season, and improves again in the off season to the point where the coaching staff cannot deny he's the best offensive option, Bargs, IMO, is best utilized as a 6th man against opposing team's benches.

The last few games have shown the big mago to be the usual low-impact player. Coming off the bench would be a very good idea. Even then, when I see D-Will driving from well behind the arc, and Bargnani stands on the baseline apparently not even noticing, it just screams out for an eventual need to upgrade with a move of offense for defense.

I completely agree. The fact is, i truely believe we can somehow trade him and get a real Center through that specific move or another that can score to a degree, but moreso rebound and play defense. Basically a guy that can give us 12-15ppg/9rpg. There must be some way to get it done.....pleeeeeeaaaaassse?? I couldn't care less if our Center could score 20pts. How about we concentrate on the 1-2-3 spots for most of our scoring.

We need to trade Bargs and Jose to offically move away from the Bosh era and start new.

The only way to do that is to get rid of Colangelo.

But most of us agree that BC is the best GM available. Would we be willing to sacrifice Colangelo to get rid of Bargnani?

Why does Colangelo have to go if Bargnani goes. I realize many think there is absolutely no way he would ever trade Bargnani, but i'm not so sure about that. And if not, then fine trade Amir, get a real defensive Center and have Bargnani play PF, preferably off the bench behind Davis (not gonna happen), but ultimately he is a big problem on this team imo. He's inconsistent, and lacks any kind of drive, so move him altogether or shift him over to PF and make him work for/earn his minutes against Davis and possibly Amir as well.

The way I see it is that I can't envision Colangelo trading Bargnani away.

I love Colangelo, but I don't see what he does in Bargnani.

In other words, as long as Colangelo is GM, Bargnani is probably going to be on our roster.

Who knows, you're probably right and if so he better get a real Center to play with him and move him to PF and build up the 1 & 3 spots to the point where Bargs is the 3rd option.

Agree with you on that point. No way Bargnani is a first or even second option on a contending team.

A winning team would cure all.

Seriously, shit team, shit year, inconsistent performances = nitpicking. Don't you think a winning atmosphere, i.e. actually striving for something, would do wonders?

How hard is it to learn rebound? seriously Traino need to just stick 2 big near Barg and make whoever shoot a miss shot so he can learn how to rebound

Bargnani's defensive issues definitely is a problem for the team, especially at the 4 which is the position I think he should be playing. We want a defensive C and to put Bargs at the 4. This is a problem because now you're eating up Davis' play time and having Amir seems unnecessary (if we got our C).

I think sometime after this season Bargnani needs to be moved. Getting a center with defensive abilities is a must and we can have Davis and Amir share minutes at the 4.

I've heard people say we won't have scoring inside if we use a defensive center paired with Davis/Amir.
That's true, but do we need inside scoring to a huge extend if we have Derozan, and another lottery pick (Irving, fingers crossed) putting in work. Davis has shown flashes of offense and it can only get better.

The worst part to me is that it was a year ago and it looks like he's just as lazy or moreso if that's possible. Imo he's regressed in the rebounding department and his overall D seemed better last season to me.
