Raptors One highly experienced Head Coach in 18yrs

This organization has really cheaped out in going after big name coaches that have a legitimate NBA record. Since 2003 (10yrs)....

Butch Carter
Kevin O'Neil
Sam Mitchell
Jay Triano
Dwane Casey

If we are ever to get results we need a HC with a history of winning in the NBA. A coach that commands respect from the players. I swear, if we go after another no name schmuck i'm probably done with this team for a while.

I agree with you but we just don't have the talent to attract a big name coach. A proven coach would want some serious talent, not a team of 6th, 7th and 8th men.

If you think this team only has 6th 7th and 8th men you're seriously delusional

No I have my wits about me. With the exception of our rookies who are still unproven, the rest of our team would be 6th or 7th men on a good team.

DeMar has lead the league in scoring the last five games before today. And he was shooting 50% from the field and 48% from three. I'm not too high on our players, but lets face it, I don't think DeMar or Rudy will come off the bench anytime soon for any team. Val will be a big-time starter no doubt one day. It's hard to tell really. We have talent, just not championship talent. So I agree to a point with your opinion.

lowry, demar, at this point are definite starters on most teams. gay can be, I really think he can, if we had a coach who knew a tad bit about offence. Amir is perfectly suited to the sixth man sure, I'll agree with you there, but even the, if Amir has a coach who draws up P@r for him, then even he can be argued as a starter in the league just because of the immense difference he brings on the other end. Val at this point arguably isn't, but he's a kid center. give him time. you can see the talent is there.

so i'd say we have 3 starters on this team (with gay and amir being 0.5's right now due to coach).

In other words forget this season for new coach i guess. But jeffb brings a good point. In order for a team to be successful is to have a good coach and good players.

And we never had it both at the same time. If anything we had decent ones on both ends but no franchise long term stuff. Just short runs..

Sloan won't come here imo, don't want brown or skiles. The rest of them I would want here. More specifically the VG brothers, Karl, Hollins.

Don't see JVG coming here either though.

Hollins would be ideal for this team if we're going to build around JV.

SVG would probably be ideal. Ditto for Karl with his previous ties to Ujiri.

I know that I'm in the minority but i still like Brown. One of the few coaches to win BOTH an NCAA and an NBA title. He shouldn't be judged by his stints in CHA and NYK.

SVG would be ideal but not attainable, as per all the reports he doesnt want to get back into coaching, unless a ridiculous opportunity pops up I'm guessing, and we wouldnt be that unless we get the 1st pick in the draft.

Karl and Masai didnt get along in their last year, so that wouldnt work, plus Karls style of play doesnt win in the playoffs and a majority of his players like playing for him.

I really think Hollins would be the most ideal and realistic pick this offseason assuming he wants to come. He knows how to get the most of his top players(Randolph became a really solid passer under him, Conleys game really took off), his defensive schemes are solid, and I think he would really help guys like JV and Ross flourish since he had similar players in Allen and Gasol who he was able to really integrate well into his schemes both on offence and defence to where they looked like they were playing at the top of their games while coached under Hollins.

Plus the guy really knows how to run an out of timeout play, always a sign of a really good coach.

Any coach who can get a team that cant shoot to the conference finals has to be good.

Who we get all depends on what Ujiri does with this lineup in the next 8 months and if he can put fourth a solid plan/proposal together. IMO money won't be the issue, the roster and plan for the next couple years will have to convince the person(s) they want. They're going to have to sell a new beginning with the rebranding, upgraded roster....all-star game etc....

pretty sure lowry and gay were starters for playoff teams before they came here
and demar is legit starter too. Amir/JV - more of a situational thing, they could definitely start on some good teams (say JV in OKC as a random example).

this year we could have had a big time coach, but I don't think management wants to commit to winning just yet.

How can we have Hollins though if we have Gay. Gay has to go first.
