Default OMGZ INSIDER! Hakim Warrick!!!

Quote:
That power forward is Hakim Warrick, who was taken by surprise Thursday night when the Grizzlies rescinded their $3 million qualifying offer to him to give themselves more flexibility on the free-agent market.

The 27-year-old former Syracuse standout averaged 11.6 points and five rebounds last season when he shared time with Darrell Arthur at power forward, but Memphis acquired Zach Randolph earlier this summer to play that position, making Warrick both expendable and expensive.

haha ... INSIDER is going to be excited.

Eventhough they state him as a PF, hasn't he played the SF more in his professional career? He might be a decent back up to Hedo.

I dont know how we would afford him not Knowing what the first season of JJ new contract is, but if we had a couple of million available and Warrick accepted, I wold be pleased with having him on board.

Now we are talking - Warrick would have been someone worth spending money on, although I doubt we have enough cash left.

Delfino, on the other hand, will screw up well-defined roles and will be an extremely pricey redundancy.

I think we have like 1 mil from the MLE. If he wants to come here for that then it's all good unless we work out a S&T.

Warrick CAN NOT play the 3. He'd be a great backup PF for any team though.

We have 0$ (Minimum salary). The only reason we can sign Delfino is because we have his Bird rights. Which unless we make some kind of trade almost guarantees Delfino will be signed shortly.

+1

BC hit the phones and IMMEDIATELY start working your magic AGAIN before another team steals him! Any1 know how much cap space we have...is this doable?

If the Raps can land Warrick im going to go out on a limb and say we got the 4th seed locked up!

According to Dougie Smith, its pretty unlikely..

Hey Doug,

With Warrick being renounced in Memphis, any chance the Raptors make a run at him if they can't come to an agreement with Delfino?

Blogger's note: If he settles for a minimum value contract, I'd be shocked.

He can play the sf.
He is the prototypical combo forward.

Warrick's a solid player but if BC were looking to pick up a combo forward I'd probably rather have Kleiza. Much more effective than Warrick at the three and is a very good backup at the power forward. Doesn't sound like we have the money to go either way though.

Warrick will get the MLE most likely.

he is a very versatile player with great length, good help d as well in the post and he has great length, can play the 3 or 4 which is the final piece that shit team needs and he would be the perfect fit... i dont believe MLSE is willing to go into the luxury cap though so I can't see him landing here.. only player we will offer that much money to is delfino since we have his bird rights

But you don't do something just because you can!

WTF else thinks Delfino is worth 5 mil/season?!

How many shooting guards do we need?! Wright, DeRozan, Douby, now people even project Jack to play some minutes there - and considering that all those players are young and generally healthy, how many of them are we going to need?!

We need backup SF. We don't need a backup SG.

If it's for one year and they have a clear idea of how he fits then sure, maybe. There has to be some good thinking about how much they are committed to Wright. Is he just an expiring contract that they will try to get some minutes for? Is he being shopped around? Or is he a guy they'd like to carve out a niche for and maybe try to keep around? Depending on how the team looks at Wright, and what the specifics of Delfino's role turnout to be, it either makes no sense, or some sense, to spend on Delfino because they can. I would hope they don't just spend freely and then hope it all gets sorted out through internal competition, because it also effects the roles of the Rook and the other 5 million dollar guy they just nabbed. If he's strictly backing up Hedo I can maybe live with the idea much easier. It would be more clear cut and effect little else.

Thinking about it further, maybe they need to trade Wright for just the right backup for Hedo.
