Default Olympiacos & Anthony Parker Negotiating

KWSN-Men from RealGM

Quote:
Krepsinis.net - Naujiena - "Olympiacos" A.Parkeriui si?lo 5 mln. eur? kontrakt?

(Krepsinis is one of, if not the biggest Lithuanian sports media)

Olympiacos is interested in three time Euroleague champion Anthony Parker. Serbian media published from sources in Greece and America that they even offered him a 5 million euros net per year contract.

"I have heard that Olympiacos is interested in me, but I will say no more about that until the contract is laying on my table. It is a great club and of course I am interested in the opportunity to become a member of Olympiacos' team, if we can agree on contract terms." - Anthony Parker

The owner of Olympiacos said the deal would be for 3 years. Because European contracts are listed in the salary amounts after the player's taxes and agent fees have been paid, and are listed in euros instead of dollars. I did the math and this is basically roughly about = to a 3 year $41.5 million contract with the Raptors.

That's about 13.8 million per year. That's ALOT of money for Anthony Parker. We paid AP 4.5 million last season and that's like almost a 10 million dollars jump in salary. I suppose we have to offer him more than last year to keep him here but if he's after money then we can say bye to AP.

I guess our priority in the draft now is to get a 2 guard (Evans or DeRozan) and sign Delfino.

He'd be crazy to turn that kind of money down.

I hope this is true. AP is a great guy but the Raptors need to go in a different direction. And hopefully this means both Joey and AP won't be back. Now if only Banks can somehow end up somewhere else??

And if this happens, Grange's article saying that BC was concentrating on using his 10Mil cap space on re-signing his own FA is bullshit, or at the very lest will go up in smoke.

The only bad thing about this would be, it eliminates the possibility of a S&T involving AP.

Why is that?

You don't like Parker?

If thewre is a list of Raptor problems, and it's 13 players long, he's at like #12, so I'm not sure why people think it's a good thing to have him leave.

WOW that is a lot for a 33 year old. I would only want him back here for less then 4.5 mil and the Olympicos are giving him 13 mil .

Umm 5 million euros is only 6.9285 million U.S. dollars. Where the fk did he get those numbers / learn his math?

I don't think your agent is going to charge you >10 million in contract fees.

wow, the guy shot 42% last year probably due to his legs and having less lift on his jumper. that is a shat load of cash.
so long Parker aka shitty MJ with no lift that quivers in the clutch

Yes, but it still doesn't equate to >$13 mil a year.

If Calderon, Marion, Bosh and Bargs are all back next year. And our bench is Evans, Derozan/Delfino/FA..

Then our #1 problem is a starting 2 gaurd. Do we want a 33 year shooting gaurd who overhelps and gets us burned on defence, and shoots fadeaways from 1 foot inside the arc. I don't know what kind of veteran leadership you guys are talking about... but he doesn't bring the kind that Oak brought back in the Carter days. This veteran guy even misses clutch free throws at the ends of games (the chicago one comes to mind but there are others).

This guy is useless to us. I hope he's gone. The offseason keeps getting better and better .

it might take into account that he doesn't pay taxes on his salary, gets a car, house and many other benifits in kind

You really have no idea, do you?

Funny you mention Oak. Would you be more pleased if Parker threw a behind the back pass into the stands at least once a game, was suspeneded and missed time because he decided to try and smack out opponents during shoot around, or missed a wide open layup in Game 7. Actually, even better yet if he tried to dribble the ball down the length of the court in the dying minutes of Game 7 with the game and the season on the line only to be stripped of the ball.

aha!
i called this a year ago.. i said some euro team will fork over a huge contract to AP, and he'll dash.
Alot of people argued back that AP wants to stay in North America and stay close to home and raise his Fam here, but c'mon how does anyone in their right mind turn down almost 10 million dollars more a year? and im sure he can weasel a few more years in the contract and sign for like 4-5. thats alot of cash.

AP it was nice knoing you.
