Default Ok so after signing Hedo what can we do really?

Do we have any money left?

Where is this team at money wise? and what kind of moves can actually be made I'm a little confused...People in here are saying that we can sign and trade Marion but if we can sign him then why don't we keep him???

Who can we get for Marion?
Not much...At least thats what the market is saying right now no one wants him.

Can we still sign Pops? or Delfino?

Why are we left with so little money if Marions contract was 17million+ & Joey's was almost 3 million & Parker was more than 4.5mill Even Douby was makin 1.4 Million. Why is there such a large gap of money missing if we are only going to use 10+million to sign Hedo? (is there something I'm missing?)

There is like more than 10 million dollars un accounted for, did the cap kill our money some how?

Does anyone have a straight answer? or actual online info that says what we can or can't do?

How do you know that?

NBA.com lists 170 free agents and out of that crop only 14 people have signed. Free agency has only been open for five days.

Toronto needs to hope there is enough interest that Marion can get a deal above the MLE or otherwise they're probably not getting anything.

Thats great but thats not what I was asking?

Why don't we just sign Marion?

Can anyone answer these questions? Or does no one actually know?

Who knows? It should be an interesting week. I'm guessing that by the end of the day tomorrow we'll start hearing some rumblings as to what will happen.

This week will really dictate how we do next season. Will we be paper thin off the bench with a bunch of minimum dollar players, or is Colangelo gonna make a couple savy moves to add the depth needed to insure fan confidence that if we sustain some injuries we won't fall apart. I have confidence that he'll make the necessary moves to insure a decent bench. It won't be a great bench but a decent bench is what i'm hoping for.

Let's sit back and see how creative he can be. The fact is between Wed-Fri i'm sure BC got a glimpse of what he might be able to do in S&T or other moves if he signed Turkoglu. Therefore he didn't go into this blindly.

considering that this is being discussed endlessly in about 3 other threads, do we really need this one as well?

Right now it seems the MLE is off-limits. The only option they have is involving sign and trades and vet minimum. They really need to try and work a sign and trade for Marion.

It cost Toronto Jermaine O'Neal, so I'm thinking they could get someone on that level? Maybe they could work and double S&T with Cleveland and land a guy like Varejao? Just speculating.

They would not be able to sign Hedo if they they weren't under cap. Yes and no. A team at the cap limit or beyond can always re-sign their own guys if they have bird rights(Larry Bird Exception).

Delfino qualifies, Pops does not.

Escalating contracts and the fact that they were well over cap.

All is accounted for. Don't forget they still have that $3M in cash they can offer in a trade.

Cap $58Mil. Tax Level is $71 Mil.

Cap space - $0
Tax level space - $25 Mil

Above cap can only sign free agents they have rights to (Marion, Delfino, AP) unless they use various cap exceptions like MLE (5.8Mil)

To sign Hedu they need to create cap space. They do that by droping their rights to sign Marion Delfino AP and about 5 others and they lose the MLE.

So it's sign Marion and keep rights to other players to build up the bench or sign Hedu and the bench gets filled with players willing to work for $1 mil so the bench really really sucks.

S&T of Marion for Hedu would allow them to keep rights to AP, Delfino, etc.

S&T of Marion to any other team doesn't help very much as they can't get players back, only draft picks and trade exceptions. If they get back players it'll block the Hedu signing.

BC and Triano must be talking to one another, and BC would not have signed Turk unless Triano okayed it first. I have to believe that they must have a plan. They are both educated, and considering they have way more information than any of us here, they have to have taken into account this current situation. Our moves are limited, but not nonexistent. BC seems to be more than adept at finding diamonds in the rough, so hopefully DeRozan, and any other players we add, work well within our system and get our team to the Elysian Fields: the second round!

if Colengeo doesn't improve our bench situation by the end of this summer, does it mean that we can start looking for another GM?

They do, but if they sign Turk they have to rescind their rights to create cap room for him.

Bench will be crappy unless BC can arrange an S&T of Marion for Turk by tomorrow. All BC has to spend is the BAE (1.8Mil) and minimum salary exceptions(1.0Mil). So unless someone loves to play for Raptors at minimum salary, all he'll sign is players the other 29 teams don't want and D leagers with potential...

Starters: Calderon (injured), Derozan (rookie), Turk, Bosh, Bargs.
Backups: Ukic, Banks, Evans, Humphries, OBryant.
