Ok hypothetical situation

I know the rumours are that Bosh might go to Miami, to join Wade for many reasons. ( USA teammates, same agent, etc) but what if Wade because of his connection to Bosh decides to come to Toronto instead. I mean I was watching the Miami-Celtics game which should have been sold out but half the seats were empty. Wade might be tempted to join Toronto if the pieces are there. Bigger market, stronger team overall, he could be the star etc.

Also there is the case of Chris Paul who I think is definitely going to leave New Orleans, do you think Toronto could have a case of bringing him? Either of these players coming to Toronto would guarantee Bosh staying here because he has always said that he loves toronto and wants to fix the situation here.

What do you guys think? Take out Wade and Bosh from the equation and Toronto is a better team than Miami. Do you guys think there could be a chance?

The only reason I'm contemplating this is because BC is a very aggresive GM this seems like something he is capable of.

How do you propose we get one of those players here without giving up Bosh ..............eh Merlin?

strung_out 11-29-2009 11:41 PM

Would love to have Wade on this team but having Wade's contract mixed together with a possible max contract for Bosh... it'll really limit who else we can have on this team.

Bmats7 11-29-2009 11:48 PM

I think we can get Paul if we give up Bargs, Calderon and whoever else they want.

Also we'd have to take on one of their bad contracts and also probably a draft pick.

Wade wants to play somewhere warm. I know it hasn't really snowed yet and December starts the day after tomorrow, but I don't think that counts. No way we get him. It would be awesome if we did, though.

LJkAze 11-30-2009 12:52 AM

If we can get Chis Paul and Dwyane wade championship here we come ^_^. Please BC try to get these 2 at all cost. Well we should of gotten Dwyane instead of Shawn Marion for Jermaine o neal trade, damn what shame T_T. Lets trade Jose+Barg for Chis Paul and Hedo+Wright+PoB for Dwyane

The chances of us picking up a big name player a pretty low for one reason.

The top players right now: LeBron, Wade, Paul, Howard are all American. The only team in the league which is not American is obviously the Raptors. Those big name players previously mentioned will never voluntarily choose to play for the Raptors because playing for Canada would seem like some sort of treason to them.

The reason we got Carter and Bosh was only because we drafted them. Once they were in Toronto they loved it, don't get me wrong... But the thought of playing in Canada is what initially scares the big name American players off. Unless we are already a surefire contender, free agents like those aren't going to sign with us.

The best hope for Toronto is to go after American players who have international experience. Players such as Brandon Jennings (Who played in Europe) and Kobe Bryant (Who grew up in Italy) understand that they can still be proud of their own country even if they play somewhere else.

Wade is from Chicago owns a house there and chose to go to college in Wisconsin, I don't think he care about the cold

MangoKidHoops 11-30-2009 10:27 AM

I don't think the cold affects him, but he's in a situation where he loves the city. I can't see him leaving a warm desirable climate like Miami. If anything, he's going to be doing some bigtime recreuitment.

Come on man, with wade we dont need anyone else on this team. HE carries the shit out of Miami already, alone

kia4ever 11-30-2009 12:54 PM

I think Wade is definitely a possibility just because of the Bosh connection. But if we can get Paul on his own, I think anyone but Bosh, Derozan, and Jarret Jack should be fair game. Paul would be the leader that this team needs, Bosh's presence or Paul's presence on the team would be just what we need to encourage the other players to join.

kia4ever 11-30-2009 12:58 PM

Wade can choose to come here during the free agency, but we might be able to trade for Paul. I think Paul is much more valuable for our team, and I think BC should do his best to go after him. If we get Paul before the 2010 free agency through a trade, we will have no problem attracting talent with a Bosh and Paul duo. Possibly a Johnson, Butler, Jamison, Iguodala perhaps.

'trane 11-30-2009 01:01 PM

ok, as a hypothetical, who would you trade for paul, and why would new orleans even think about the deal?

kia4ever 11-30-2009 01:05 PM

I think Paul wanting to leave would be the biggest factor

But I would trade Bargs, Calderon, Draft picks and whatever else New Orleans wants. I wouldn't give up Bosh, Derozan, Jarret Jack, or Johnson. Anyone else is fair game.

Raptorman 11-30-2009 01:08 PM

Getting CP3 would be awesome. It feel good to be on the winning end of a star bolting his team for once.

'trane 11-30-2009 01:19 PM

if i'm new orleans, i'm not trading paul unless i get a star back, or at least 2-3 very good players, i don't care how much he wants to leave. bargs, calderon and the next 3 first rounders wouldn't even come close to being enough. we're talking a top 3 pg in the league, a team leader, and a proven winner for 2 guys pretty much everyone on this board is tearing up for not being good enough. and with paul and bosh in toronto you can pretty much guarantee that those won't be lottery picks.

RAPMAN 11-30-2009 01:21 PM

Ever hear of the Salary Cap? First we gave a 30 year small forward a five year contract for 10 million a year. Do you think any team would want to invest that type of money a 30 year old player. Second, we gave the softest center in the NBA a similiar contract. If you're talking about Wade and Chris Paul, the Raptors will have to relieve themselves of these contracts. If you walk up to the Hornets or Miami and offer them a 30 year-old small forward & the next Memhet Okur for players just entering their prime and who play both ends of the floor, they will show you the door. It ain't gonna happen!!

LJkAze 11-30-2009 01:27 PM

How about giving up Hedo as well? that should very well be enough to get either one of them?

kia4ever 11-30-2009 01:34 PM

You guys are right
If this season doesn't work out, we need to get rid of bosh, dump Bargs, Hedo, Calderon and and try to get as many draft picks and young players as we can get. We need to go through a legit rebuilding phase. But we need to dump the dead weight

MikeToronto 11-30-2009 01:37 PM

Let's put it this way - among Cleveland, Miami and Toronto, our team is best suited for sign-and-trade with any of the other two than the other way around, assuming LeBron or Wade would want to join Bosh in TO. We have a lot of tradeable assets (the deal would most likely center around Bargs - pun intended) and after such sign-and-trade deal, only luxury tax threshold could stop MLSE from fielding a championship-caliber team.

This all predicates, of course, on Wade or James wanting to play here... ;)
