speaking of officiating...

Do you guys think this is a travel by kemba walker? After his cross over, as he brings in the ball it looks like he takes 3 small/mini steps. Can someone help?

I don't think he travelled. His last dribble occurs as he's crossing Shved over and then he goes step back, step forward, step to the left and plant, shoot. Whatever the rule on travelling says these day (which I believe is something like 2 and a half steps, although that might just be what I was told as a kid), in effect you get three strides as long as you go up to shoot off of planting your foot on that last stride. Although I don't think this is a case, extra steps happen all the time and travelling is called much more frequently for lifting your pivot foot by shuffling your feet or taking a tiny hop as a stride.

The main problem with NBA refs is the reputation calls or respect calls or lack thereof calls (or lack of calls in general) - something that has been acknowledged by pretty much everyone around the league. This official hypocrisy absolutely must stop, a foul is a foul no matter who commits it on whom.

thanks man. i don't know why, but im not a fan of kemba. second coming of ben gordon, but not as smooth. hence the jerkiness in that cross over

Hey, the guys over at RealGM figured it out and I don't know why I didn't earlier. I'm sure a lot of people will disagree with me but odds are it's that the Raps have a reputation for being shit (read fouling a lot and not having enough talent to close out games) and the money lines reflect that, ergo, refs are keeping things abnormally close to cover the spread/margin, or put us in a losing situation outright.

Thought i'd post this in here...

Looks like The Raps office will be sending video of blown calls from 3 or 4 games to the League

From D. Smith

Quote:
Had a whole lot of suggestions that maybe Dwane or a player or two should have “gone off” on the officials after the game, certainly incurring a fine.

Why?

Don’t for a second think that the league won’t hear from Toronto today (perhaps they already have) and they will be made aware of whatever grievances the Raptors have to make.

And they will listen because it will be done through proper channels and without any public fanfare, as the league wants.

There have been moments already this season, I’ve been told, when tapes and video have been sent and, yes, the league has concurred that mistakes were made.

Of course that’s too after the fact but you’d think an accumulation of them might have some impact.

But ranting and raving and “going off” does nothing; it’s counter-productive, in my opinion. No sense in publicly embarrassing anyone, follow proper channels and see what happens.

I don’t know what, if anything, eventually will but if enough complaints are lodged against enough officials and the league agrees calls are being regularly blown, some official is going to pay some price.

Fuck Off!! I want to see some passion and our coach tearing a strip off an official at this point.

It's funny, we've lost a 1pt game, a triple OT game and a couple 2pt games and in pretty much every one of those games there has been issues with the officiating. Ridiculous!

we had what, 5 shots at the bucket last night to win it? And we're complaining about the officiating? The worst part is the three looks (of the 5) we got off of inbound plays weren't even good looks. Does this team not have a go-to play to create a shot off of an inbound? That whole sequence was pathetic, I didn't even care that Andrea was fouled

All inbounds plays have multiple options for a shot depending on team coverages. From a defensive standpoint, if a team has a foul to give they do so so they can setup their defense. The five second call puts the pressure on the offensive team to just get it in. They got a good shot last night with Andrea, just shitty officiating.

I don't dispute it was probably the best look of the five we had...but when you're screaming for a foul on the fifth look you have....come on. You need to manufacture shots more effectively than that, particularly in the dying seconds.

We were fouled on one of our other attemps also if I recall. I agree with you to a degree, but a foul is a foul period. I don't give a fuck if it's their 10th attempt.

I think the league should consider going to the 'honor system' used in pick up games ... at least it would be fun to watch the body checks ...

The Refs suck and it's depressing to watch ...

in last possession the foul should be unquestinable. If refs have a second for a doubt - it is not the foul.

i don't disagree with that. all you can hope for is that a game is called consistently, and the refs swallowed their whistles (particularly on our side) for the last few minutes of the game. but it is what it is.

From my perspective, who is only getting used to NBA games after all life of Euro basketball, officiating is second thing people outside of America hate about NBA. It annoys you, but it drives me/us nutts watching it!!! Also the lame traveling rules where you can take like 8-10 steps with only one bump. And the fines fines fines. Every time you open your mouth about things that are wrong, everyone knows it's wrong, but still you get fined... We call it circus here, not NBA

Missed Foul Call at End of Raptors-Bobcats Game

Nov 22 2012 6:40PM

On the final possession of Charlotte's 98-97 win over Toronto on Nov. 21, the game officials missed a foul by Charlotte's Michael Kidd-Gilchrist against Toronto's Andrea Bargnani on a jump shot. Bargnani should have been given two free throws and the clock stopped with approximately 2.4 seconds remaining in the game.

@WongSN590 Don't think NBA has admitted to other Raptors screwups this year on the record but word is they quietly have admitted 1 or 2 more

No it's just the NBA's way of saying:

Well we made a mistake, you still lose.
