Yeah, that should be top priority.

We wanted to draft Knight, BC takes him out for dinner. We wanted Bargnani out, he voices to the press that he is actively shopping Andrea. We wanted a new head coach, BC declines his option. It's almost as if Bryan himself is reading the boards. :cookie:

As for who I want, Lawrence Frank or Mike Malone please.

EDIT: And I agree that Jay should stay as an assistant, but it will be hard for him to make that transition in my opinion.

Lawrence Frank and Ettore Messina as an assistant...wish Rick Adelman would come here but he won't.

Please no JVG, his commentary is just idiotic. I would prefer SVG over JVG. I hope BC brings in an upgrade and not just make a move for the sake of making a move.

I'm not a Jay Triano fan, but it seems to me like BC set him up to fail. BC seems like a self-important clown. Let's replace half the roster every year, and replace the head coach every second year.

I sure won't miss those times when the Raps are blowing a lead in the fourth quarter, and Jay is standing on the sidelines with a clipboard looking confused.

Best decision BC has made of late...we need a stronger voice as coach. Jay is a great guy and knows the game but he couldn't get consistent effort out of his players...and could get no defensive effort at all. Let's hope it's an established coach..not another rookie.

Soon people will realize Jay ain't the problem, and it's the players.

I think Triano did relatively well considering the players on his roster. Hopefully BC can find a veteran coach on the market (although I doubt MLSE will pay up).

my sentiment as well - triano is a really good technician and had a decent record with the young guys, but he really lacks in motivational skills.

he did ok with the talent he had, but I don't think anybody think he overachieved or anything like that.

that being said, I think Colangelo will discover soon that a coach with a pedigree will be hard to entice to come here and we'll have to take a back seat to all the other teams looking for coaches. Until Indiana and GSW make their choices, nobody (with options) will come here imo.

I also hope that this is not a signal that colangelo wants to win now, he'd better understand that we need at least one more high quality draft pick before we can start thinking winning.

I'm more concerned with the roster, but at the same time, I think some of the key pieces on this team need someone that isn't in a little over his head, and Jay was, and likely would be in the future.

It's time that the players on this roster are truly held accountable and compete enough internally to get better as a team.

Anyone thinks Bargnani is feeling a bit uncomfortable?

Jay Triano has cut him a lot slack, despite his rebounding and defensive woes. After all, Bargnani did blossom under Triano's watch.

The new coach will probably not put up with Bargnani's lack of effort. Perhaps this move is supposed to be somewhat of a wake-up call for Andrea?

He blossomed under Triano? In the next breath you knock his lack of effort and he needs a wakeup call...

His FG% went down under Triano, his defense got worse, his rebounding numbers amazingly went down under Triano, his Blks per went down under Triano....how did he blossom again? And please don't point out his ppg, that would be sad.

I meant as a comparison to the Sam Mitchell era. Under Mitchell he looked even more out of place. When Triano took over, Bargnani improved in every category.

Not a huge fan of this move, its at least a year too early. This team shouldn't aim to be significantly better next year, we should add the high draft pick and let the team grow together. Add another high pick next year and then start adding pieces. You let Jay develop the young guys some more since every young player has become significantly better each year under him.

To me this seems as if Colangelo is starting to panic after getting such a short contract extension, he's trying to speed up the rebuild by at least a year so that he can keep his job. However in the long term this isn't good for the team, expect a veteran coach and some veteran free agents and a consistent 5-9th place team in the East.

Also, did anyone notice
SQUEEZEMEEZ:
@ReggieEvans30 what type of coach do the raps need?

ReggieEvans30:
@SQUEEZEMEEZ jay.

It's one thing for a rookie to say something like that, but when a veteran who doesn't even know if he's coming back to the team says something like that it speaks volumes about how the players feel about their coach.

Bargnani's future as a Raptor depends entirely on the new coach. If we bring in a defense first coach then Bargnani should be traded immediately. Any time he spends with the Raptors will only lower his trade value.

If its an offensive coach like Mike D'Antoni or Don Nelson or something then we can safely assume Bargnani is here for the long haul.

IMO Bargnani had a very good Rookie season under Sam, rookie of the month twice and runner up for ROY. His second season was atrocious and i atribute most of that to him. He ended the 09-10 season extremely strong and yes looked impressive. But gotta say since then he's regressed in every aspect apart from his ppg which is the only thing he cares about clearly.

Agree with you there.

I don't see much improvements from an effort/defence standpoint since his rookie year despite adding some weight.

New coach better light a fire on Bargnani's ass (if Bargnani is not traded).
