That is hilarious. We just don't have the $ to sign Eric Gordon. I'll be shocked if he's making less than $ 10 million /year when he gets his new contract. Also, only way I get JSmoove on this team is he agrees to an extension or extend+trade. I'd rather give up ED in the deal for JSmoove as Amir is a much better player off the bench than ED is. Also, Amir can play both PF and C. However, if Amir was needed contract wise to get JSmoove, no complaints.

What imaginary $ do we have for Eric Gordon? We'd be taking on almost 4 million in the JSmoove deal. Then we'd be taking on at least 4 million in the S+T of JB and Dragic. So, there is no $ left for Eric Gordon.

Don't be deluded by BC and the "significant" cap space. We have about $ 9 million to spend after taking into account JonasV and our incoming rookie's contracts. So, we are not getting E.Gordon.

Easy if were playing Kobe type SG's DeRozan gets the start.
If we play a Stucky/Ellis type SG's then Gordon gets the start.

The fact is Gordon is an undersized SG that probably should be coming off the bench. He would be perfect for leading the second unit.

the jonas contract will be sign after the olympic if BC is intelligent.

we have 41.025M book for next season.
2011-2012 Salary Cap: $58.044 million
this summer we will have 7.6M tpe + 9.41M in capspace.
8.5M rookie contract (Jonas + 8th + 2*2nd)
with that's said, i propose :

1. draft night
a.
orlando get tpe + 2nd indy
toronto get Redick

b.
we draft marshall + K joseph.

2. before july 1st
We waive Forbes. That give us 1.5M more in capspace during the summer.

3. summer :
we will still have 0.850M barbosa tpe,
we renonce it.
that doesn't change our capspace, if we count the 2 rookies contract (8th and 2nd tor =2.5M) (not jonas yet).

we offer a S&T to the suns and blazzers.

a.
Portland get Calderon + davis (10.56 + 2.2 = 12.76M)
toronto get batum (11M)

we will have then 1.76M more in capspace (= 10.5M)

b.
suns get tpe + 1st toronto 2013
toronto get nash (10M)

the pick is to make the suns happier about it.

4. we resign gray (2.5M) with the MLE
and we sign ueoh + Magz for vet min.

we will still have i think 2.5M of the MLE to sign a FA PF.

5. we sign jonas to 4M

nash/marshall/uzoh
DD/Redick/K Joseph
batum/JJ/Kleiza
Barg/amir/FA
Gray/JV/Magz

we will be over the cap, but under the luxury tax, almost 67M.

Why would Orlando do this? No 2nd rounder will match Redick's value.

Why would we want Joseph? If he wasn't Canadian no one would be mentioning him.

Why would Portland trade a foundation piece for a back up PF and an older PG rental?

E.Gordon will get anywhere from 10-14 million a year with his new contract, so, yeah, he's starting.

Nope. Makes no difference.

Waiving Forbes doesn't free up any cap space. He is on a guaranteed deal. Best we could do is use the stretch exception to cut his cap hit in half, and spread it over a couple years.

These two deals are mutually exclusive. To use cap space to trade for Nash, you need to renounce your rights to the MLE. Then you would have only the "room MLE" to use after you use your cap space - meaning Gray only gets a couple years and you have no MLE left over. Does he sign for that?

And why would we make the Nash deal a S+T? If we are using cap space to absorb his contract, and he is not restricted, and there are no longer the benefits to the player that a S+T once had, why don't we just sign him outright and keep our pick?

We can't. There is a rookie scale salary. And as for your suggestion above that we wait, his cap hit reappears long before the off-season, so whenever he is signed, it will only take up about 0.5 million extra (the 120% signing maximum assumed).

Unless DeRozan is traded then there is a much smaller chance that BC will go after gordon IMO

Why? A couple months ago he said that if their best option in FA/trade/Draft is a SG they felt comfortable starting DD @ SF. Not sure if he was just blowing smoke up our asses, but I could see him going after Mayo/Gordon/Lee type players.

Dragic
Gordon
Derozan
Bargs
Joval

I could see something like this being our starting lineup. The only thing is, imo BC won't want to throw big money at Gordon b/c of his injury history.

I like that team but the Heat & Thunder will murder that team IMO

Jose/Brooks
Mayo/Forbes
Batum/JJ
Bargs/Davis
Joval/Gray?

that is a very, very nice team. It's not without it's weaknesses and i agree with halphbreeder that it may not be contender quality but it would improve us dramatically and be fun to watch.

Thats not a bad team either but do u see mayo holding down Wade or Kobe?
Or Batum holding down Lebron or KD?

I would stick Batum at the 2 guard & have Jj guard the 3 depending on the matchup.
Also I'm not a fan of Mayo although as far as shooting goes he is a good combo guard off the bench.

Name me any players we could get that could hold those two down? Besides, if you have that lineup, depending on matchups you have flexibility. Maybe some games you have Mayo come off the bench and start Batum + JJ. But most of the time i would have Mayo starting.

At least Jj will have a better shot at disrupting the big SF's
& Batum can do the same at the 2...
Im not saying they can hold them down Im saying that at the very least they can get a had in there face on a jump shot or drives to the basket.
Batum is a good player, Portland isnt going to let him go anywhere.
& Mayo is just a short shooting guard.
I fine with both players, but Mayo is not a player I would like to see in a Raptors uniform.

personally i like mayo and think signing him would be worth the risk, but that statement is not a mystery. As a starter he's not proven himself yet. He was not a total success and was often inneficient on offence. A bit of a chucker. I could see him feeling the pressure to score if he was starting for us, esp the 3-ball, and struggling.

but like i said, i like him and maybe as he keeps improving he'll be restored to a starter for memphis or be a starter somewhere else.
