As much as I would love Jordan he's not leaving the Clippers - nor would they allow it with what he's shown. I would be stunned if he left. Jordan and Griffen are the future front court there.

Affalo idea is probably one of our better options at the moment, but I really wish we could have Wilson Chandler

Afflalo is restricted, and Denver has practically infinite cap space. No way they let him go unless he's ridiculously overpaid.

ok, fair point. Better way to put it, it pissed me off watching him last year! Wasn't his fault. And as i've said a couple of times, happy to give him a chance.

Here's an idea that could be a better use of our cap space than an expensive FA.

target teams that look like they want to amnesty TWO players! probably in the west coz we don't wanna help an east team too much.

offer them some kind of trade, that is very beneficial to us, i.e a pick and maybe a decent piece, and take a bad contract off them and then amnesty that contract.

thoughts on that idea? and any possible suggestions?

I think you can't trade the amnesty or use it on traded players

Rumours today:

From the some things never change category

-CP3 first choice is New York
-Celtics want Dwight Howard
-Kurt Thomas looking at NY, Chicago, Heat, Mavs

Also...

-One of Milsap/Jefferson could be moved
-Warriors interested in Roy

You can't trade the amnesty. However, despite the rumours from earlier, there is nothing in the accepted proposal that says anything about restrictions on amnestying a traded player. It only says that the amnesty only applies to players whose contracts exist already.

So that restriction may still exist, but it wasn't put down in words, so I have my doubts.

this team doesn't need two lesser players. It needs more starting talent and both those guys aren't really starting caliber, especially Johnson.

Great idea. If Bargnani is not a candidate for the clause, the Raps have no one they really need to waive. If they can utilize this option to pick up a high draft pick in this year's draft, they should go for it.

But again, no clear indication whether it will be allowed or not. Or whether MLSE will be happy to pay 10's of millions of dollars to pick up another draft pick.

The player has to be on contract on your roster as of july 1st 2011 for the amnesty to be used, it isn't association wide.

I've heard that leak from talks, but it does not actually say that in the proposal. I think it will likely end up that way, but it isn't yet.

The actual clause in the proposal:

Quote:
14. Amnesty

Each team permitted to waive 1 player prior to any season of the CBA (only for contracts in place at the inception of the CBA) and have 100% of the player’s salary removed from team salary for Cap and Tax purposes.

Salary of amnestied players included for purposes of calculating players’ agreed-upon share of BRI.

A modified waiver process will be utilized for players waived pursuant to the Amnesty rule, under which teams with Room under the Cap can submit competing offers to assume some but not all of the player’s remaining contract. If a player’s contract is claimed in this manner, the remaining portion of the player’s salary will continue to be paid by the team that waived him.

The actual clause in the proposal:
It does say at the inception of the CBA. No trades can occur before the the CBA is signed hence its July 1, 2011 the last day there was a CBA.

It says the contracts must exist as of the inception of the CBA, not that they must be on the same team or that they cannot be traded.

teams have contracts, not leagues. To change who is in fact paying you is changeing the contract or a creation of a new contract.

Wouldn't a team then get to re-write some of the contract when trading for a player? I think the contract, as approved by the league, is considered valid league-wide.
