It has to be players signed as of July 01, 2011. So why would you wait? To see if Bargs is going to get worse?

because we are not above he cap, and we could easily get something for him instead of letting him go for nothing

What is the trade? Aging, back up PG, 98% FT shooter who shoots maybe shoots 1.2 FT on avg. a game, doesn't play defense, hamstring problems, with a contract of 10.5 million. Not to mention has little to none play off loses let alone wins. Who is trading for this guy?

we were talkign about bargs, and jose could be traded next year as an expiring and i think would do very well on a denfesive minded team, that would cover his flaws. his offense is amazing, you cannot deny that

I was talking about Jose. Yes I agree though that Bargs could thrive in a 2/3 that put him on either side of the paint.

i do this without knowing the new cba exactly :

1st trade :
Portland gets landry (S&T) + Bargnani
Toronto gets A.Gray + batum + oden
NOH gets ed davis + kleiza + 1st 2012 Portland.

NOH gets a huge prospect at PF, a scorer sf, and a first round. ed davis as backup for west and kleiza as backup for ariza.
if paul goes at the end of the season, that put them able to rebuild.

Portanld gets power with 2 big men, one defender and one scorer.

toronto gets a real SF defender, who will be a nice pair with DD, and JJ as backup that will be great. and we get a good backup center, who can defend (gray) like he show in the playoffs. And we take a mesure risk with oden, who we can put under the amnesty clause, if nothing works out.

2nd trade :

toronto gets gibson + bogans + 1st 2012 charlotte
chicago gets barbosa + reggie evans (S&T minimum)

Chji gets a solid sg who can create like Drose, and penetrate. a solid defender at PF.
we get a young and good PF (an ex-teamate of DD and JJ) + a good sg defender and a 1st pick.

we can resign dorsey for one year, and JUJU. and we can sign a cheap guard to complete our backcourt.

roster :
Bayless/caldy
DD/Bogans
batum/JJ/JUJU
Amir/gibson/dorsey
oden/gray/alabi/(JV)

+ 1st toronto and 1st chalotte in a really good draft !!!

His confidence finishing in the paint is going to improve. He is basically the type of player we are tanking for to pick up in the draft.

I think you keep Klieza as while, even if the the only reason is to ease the transition of Val in to the roster next season.

I am hoping that Jose gets axed in the amnesty.

I think our only Trade bait is Barbosa, but I think he is here till closer to the trade dead line.

FA is going to be the big issue. Whether we actually pay for assets or look for bandaids. And what kind of veteran leadership is chosen for this team.
i do see where you're coming from, i really like Ed and think he could be a very good player. But in return you're getting someone who you would also be very happy picking up in the draft, Batum. We need a SF a lot more than we need a PF. And the prospects are at least as good as Ed in the up coming draft.

We would be taking a risk, they might not pan out but again, we know Batum has shown he can cut it in the NBA. The question is would portland do the trade when they know there are so mnay good PFs in the draft? maybe, coz their pick will be quite low. Works for both teams.

as much as kleiza pissed me off last year, i agree keeping him is the best option. His contract ain't that bad and he might improve.

don't see the point in using amnesty on jose, we have cap space now and the contract will be gone soon enough anyway.

Why would anyone be pissed off at Kleiza last year? He got hurt in pre-season and then played through it the best he could for 6 weeks before having to shut it down.

ye klieza was not bad considering he was injured, the only time he made me cringe was when he would over dribble the ball and turn it over

I agree, Kleiza will do well here and I would like to see him play at least this shortened year and at his price? Bargain in my mind and a waste of the amnesty if used on him.

Not sure of all the dislike for Kleiza - he's certainly no Hedo Turkeyballs.

Agreed, to amnesty a player that makes less then 5Mil/yr would be ridiculous imo. Especially when you consider our need for a SF.

James Johnson proved more than Kleiza ever has on this team, as far as starting I'd have to go with James Johnson without a doubt. Until Kleiza can prove he isn't worthless, he isn't starting anytime soon.

We need two SF's. They complement each other well, and as Jeff said, no need to amnesty a player making less than the MLE.

Anytime soon? Ha, whatever dude. James Johnson is far from a lock to be the long term starter on this team. And to say he's proven a lot more then Kleiza on this team when Kleiza has yet to play a regular season game for this team healthy is a bit short sighted. I'm not saying Kleiza will come off a one year of injury and be the starter, but if he comes into training camp in decent shape and does well in his first month i wouldn't doubt he eventually starts. And if you want to talk accomplishments.....who has done more in their career between the two?

neither one has ever showed anything more than role player stuff. kleiza could potentially be a starter on a team where he is the 5th option and the team is already very good defensively, but we are really not that kind of team, and we have no idea whether or not he can still perform at that level. at best, he is a borderline starter, and even that is up in the air.

I agree with you there. But to flat out say JJ has proven so much more than an injuerd Kleiza is a little silly. I like JJ, but I need to see more from him. Right now neither should be a lock for the starter position. Although Johnson will likely get the nod to start the season with Kleiza needing more time especially with a shortened camp.

Use Kleiza or Jose for the amnesty, sign Aaron Affalo. You want to change the culture of the team's defence, like Chandler with Dallas, and KG with Boston, get a new player who be the team's catalyst. Use your cap space to get Deandre Jordan.
