Make a trade with the Jazz.

Gay/Lowry for Alec burks/favors/jefferson

This favors tanking. Get a couple good prospects and an expiring.

Well, the Lakers get worse now and sacrifice their summer free agency plans too. I don't see it. Chicago makes some sense, but there are a lot of point guards in the NBA. They could find a decent one for some expirings+pick or such, All star wings are much rarer. Also, they are saying they will keep their current core. But they save tax too, so who really knows. The Lakers are the ones that would quickly hang up.

But frankly I don't know why the Raptors would even want that deal, they get better players but they now rely on Augustin playing 30+ minutes a night.
Lets say they get slightly better. The 2014 pick becomes worse. Valanciunas is buried on the bench. The one positive is getting rid of Gay's final year, but at that point it won't matter. Cap space is nice when you have some young stars to build around.

Like I said, I'd try to ship Lowry to one of these teams, but I'd expect a pick or some other long term asset, not a Gasol.

I'm thinking that Pau would be a good teacher for JV, and it's only for one year. They would both likely walk after giving us tons of cap space, but yea I would rather deal Gay/Lowry for players that would makes us better long term

So apparently Dion Waiters is very much available, according to espn.

Quote:
The Cavs' targets are Iman Shumpert in New York, Evan Turner in Philadelphia and Luol Deng in Chicago, sources said.
Quote:
Irving called the meeting after the game, and every player spoke. When Waiters was given the floor, he criticized Thompson and Irving, accusing them of playing "buddy ball'' and often refusing to pass to him. Thompson took umbrage with Waiters' words and went back at him verbally. The two confronted each other, but teammates intervened before it could escalate into a fight.

However, Waiters and Irving are not close. Waiters believes the Cavaliers have a double standard when it comes to Irving, sources said. Waiters feels that while Irving is allowed to get away with loafing defensively, making turnovers and taking bad shots, he is taken out of games for such things.

Reading that, let's stay as far away from Waiters as possible.... just another chucker.

I remember that BC really wanted him ( I did too at the time) but I'm so glad we got Ross instead of Waiters

Then let's take Thompson and help them resolve their internal problems. Irving may be a tad tougher to get.

Why would Memphis want Gasol? Why would GSW trade their starting SG who is a huge part of their success for a backup PG?

We need to find a way to get rid or fields/gay and lowry for just expirings and a project asset or late pick. If we can do that, we should have a ton of cap space heading into next year, hopefully end up with a high enough pick to draft smart or exum. Then throw money at Hayward.

Exum or Smart/Backup
Demar/Ross
Hayward/DD or Ross
Amir
JV

We then try to get a starting caliber PF and Amir can be the first big off the bench. That would be a pretty good young team to work with

Hayward has had an interesting season. The following are down from last year: FG%, eFG%, TS%, 3pt%, 2p%, FT%, orating, WS/48 minutes, TOV% (ie has increased). However, credit to him that the following had increased: apg, rpg, spg, ast%, stl%, trb%, and drating. He really needs to cut down on the tos and be more efficient on offense.

According to ESPN," With Derrick Williams joining a Kings roster that already includes Carl Landry and Jason Thompson, two players signed through 2015-16, Patterson is expendable. For a team that needs frontcourt scoring help like a Toronto, Utah or Philadelphia, Patterson could be an attractive option. The question is what the Kings could get back."

I think the Raptors should definitely try to acquire P.Patterson. It would help them out in terms of inside scoring, rebounding, and even mid range shooting.
