I think Perkins would be a good role model for JV though. He plays terrific post defense, rebounds well, and has a tough attitude. If we don't go for the tank, I can see Perkins as our first big man off the bench.

I think a Perkins for Bargnani swap makes sense to provide more mental toughness on this team, but it also brings in a non-offensive option in the paint that is only going to give more lazy jumpshot opportunities to our jumpshot happy wings. I'd rather Okafor as he's at least got a little post game.

This would be so sweet. Too bad the Wiz would never accept it without us throwing Ross in.
had a similar proposal on Feb 2nd. so I approve of this trade proposal

Have you watched Perkins the last 2-3 years? His post defence isn't even good anymore. Randolph and Gasol tore him up with ease. The only reason he had that reputation is because of his play against Howard, and that's only because Dwight has no counter moves.

He just came off a series where he shot 18% from the field, where most of his shots were either wide open dunks or layups, or short hook shots. His first year in OKC he rebounded ok with 8 per game in 30+ games, but since then he's averaged 6 per game, and only 6 in the playoffs the previous 3 years to this one(this year he averaged 2 per game).

Perkins was a solid player in Boston because he was able to move more fluently on defence, and make shots around the basket. Ever since his knee injury in the Finals against LA, he's essentially been Hoffa out there.

The fact that people still talk about how he brings toughness is the worst argument for a player I've heard in terms of why he brings a positive impact to a team. You know you suck when all you bring is 'toughness', and people cant even explain how you do it. He snarls a lot. Yeah, toughness.

I agree, but you're talking about trading Bargnani for him, who many here feel is just a necessary move.... at any cost. If that's the view you take, swapping him for Perkins seems understandable. Unless you attribute greater value to Bargnani, you can't expect more.

To be honest, I don't think OKC does the trade. I originally thought that they would because Perkins has been terrible for the past few seasons. Both Bargnani and Perkins has shown better performances in the past, so I thought it would be a fair trade.

However, I did some further research and found this thread from another forum. Apparently, most people would still prefer Perkins because of chemistry and interior presence.

Better overall player: Kendrick Perkins or Andrea Bargnani? - Message Board Basketball Forum - InsideHoops

It really shows how low Barg's value is.

perceived value..... not actual. If you can't get a decent deal, we should hold. Ujiri won't be pushed into a bad deal, and he's made it clear we'd be better off working to restore asset value rather than simply jettison one that has been diminished.

Shamelessly stealing this trade from RealGM

TOR out:
Rudy
Kyle
Ross
Shitnani

TOR in:
Okafor
Ariza
Mullens
Vesely
3rd overall pick

WAS out
Okafor
Ariza
Vesely
3rd pick
Nene

WAS in:
Rudy
Bargs
Tyrus Thomas
Ram on Sessions
4th pick (Charlotte)

CHA out:
Tyrus Thomas
Ram on sessions
Mullens (s+t 3mil per)
4th pick

CHA in:
Ross
Lowry
Nene

For us

For Washington they definitely make playoffs

For Charlotte: dump TT and get back great value for a pick that nobody really good would be available for.

We could then trade 3+ Fields for 6+expirings+2nd rounders

Operation tank 2014

Burke
DD
Ariza
Amir
Val

Puke worthy b-ball right there.

I dunno, MU has stated he would like Bargs to be gone by July 1. That's not a guarantee that it will happen at any cost (and the only time I've heard that is in the media and here). I'm not sure if that happens but I agree about what you had said there - it is very possible Bargs is still here at the start of the season if the potential returns are turrible; and amnestying makes no sense cap wise.

Seraphin
Len(or other big man prospec)

Nene, Okafor out for Bargs, Tyrus Thomas, and a rookie C to replace them? You're joking.
