This team could easily be fixed with two realistic trades, first

1.) Toronto Out: Jose Calderon,Linas Kleiza
Toronto In: Danny Granger

Indiana Out: Danny Granger,David West
Indiana In: Pau Gasol, Linas Kleiza

Los Angeles Out: Pau Gasol
Los Angeles In: David West,Jose Calderon

Approved NBA Trade Machine - ESPN
Toronto gets rid of an expiring and under utilized player, receives a legit SF.

2.) Toronto Out: Andrea Bargnani
Toronto In: Freddy Garcia, Thomas Robinson

Sacramento Out: Freddy Garcia.Thomas Robinson
Sacramento In: Andrea Bargnani

Approved NBA Trade Machine - ESPN
Toronto gets a bonafied low post prospect in Robinson, also a bad but an expiring contract for next season in Garcia.

Lowry/Lucas(meh)
DeRozan/Ross/Fields
Granger/Garcia/Pietrus
Robinson/Davis/
Valanciunas/Johnson

Injured Reserves: Gray,Acy,Anderson

3.) In the off season amnesty Amir Johnson then let Pietrus and Anderson come off the books(save nearly 8 million). Sign a better back up point guard and a couple role players. Draft the best player available If OKC doesn't get the pick.

Wasn't Phoenix interested in Fields in a S&T for Nash? This would have to be after Fields can come back from his injury and can show he's healthy, but...

Toronto: Beasley, Brown, Scola, Gortat

Pheonix: Fields, Calderon, Bargnani, Davis

Lowry/ Brown/ Lucas
Derozan/ Ross/ AA
Beasley/ Pietrus/ Kleiza
Scola/ Amir/ Beasley/ Acy
Valanciunas/ Gortat/ Gray

...Beasley? C'mon let's set our sights a little higher than that? And Gortat would not back up Val

Higher, for that bunch? If that's what you expect, good luck. Beasley makes what Fields makes, who would you rather have?

I think we might be stuck trading with the bottom feeders. I've always liked Scola. He's a horrible fit on the Suns, but he's a guy who never quits and might light a fire under a few guys on the Raptors. How he would fit with the rest of the Raptors, I don't know. At least he's a basketball player. I like Brown well enough as he can score and play defense. Beasley is having the worst season of his troubled career--no one wants him. Gortat? His game depends on those around him--and there are no players on the Raptors that would complement him. Scratch Gortat.

I'll do option number 1, but Presti will just laugh at us for trying to take the pick back.

2) We have up too much and not enough in return.

I like the Thomas Robinson idea, but it depends on what direction the Kings want to go in heading to 2013. Right now they probably wouldn't do it.

The Indiana trade is creative. Plus we don't give up Bargnani and can use him in a subsequent trade. Granger is a gamble, but it's really not costing us anything. Reward far outweighs the risk for us. If Indiana's comfortable with George/Stephenson, Gasol would be a huge upgrade for them. They do lose West who's playing really well for them and Granger who's a great scoring option when healthy. With LA, not sure they're entirely sold on West. It depends on how Nash works with Gasol. I'm fairly confident Gasol will be traded at some point though.

I like Gortat and Scola, but don't like the idea of having the Suns starting lineup. You're right the Suns were interested in Fields over the summer, and when he comes back I would try to dump him there. We did it with Turkoglu, hopefully they bite with Fields. He needs to start hitting his shots though.

I want to buy low on granger. Dump Calderon in three team trade. I'd even consider sending Ed Davis as a sweetener. Then send Bargnani for a better defensive 4.

I like derozan's work ethic and he has improved over the years, but to say he's going to develop into an "elite" shooting guard or the franchise player is wishful thinking. He's nowhere near what Vince Carter was for us. His value is fairly high right now. If we can swing a trade for another wing or sg I'd do it. Tyreke Evans or Paul George. Evans Isin't playing all that great, but if he goes back close to rookie form and away from all those knuckleheads in sac town he could become something special.

Derozan imo is a third option on a good team. If he's asked to do too much and be the man it's a disaster. As we can see. Same goes for Bargnani....both are best suited for 3rd option roles, and since neither can defend it drives that point even more. I would even say both might be great 6th man material.

What's about?

1.
Sac get Bargnani + J Lamb
OKC get Evans
Toronto get Garcia + Maynor + 1st toronto 2013

2.
Indiana get Calderon + ross + Kleiza + 2*2nd rd tor
Toronto get Granger + Mahimmi

Lowry/Maynor/Lucas
DD/anderson/fields
Granger/Pietrus/Garcia
ED/Amir/Acy
JV/Mahimmi/Gray

we get our 1st pick back.
Lets ed play our pf, and amir play the backup like he should do (not backup center) and mahimmi knows casey system, and granger will provide our need at the SF spot.

we get our 1st pick back, and with gasol as our pf, we resolve our PF problem for at least 2 years.
Like the first deal, the 2nd not so much. But that's because I'm not a really big fan of the Gasol to Toronto idea.

Jennings and Lowry look quite the same player to me;

I would try Calderon (+Kleiza?) for Gooden and Udrih though, and then try to trade Bargs for a starting 3 (I would like someone like Granger or even Jeff Green who's playing great lately).

Lowry/Udrih/Lucas
DD/Ross/Fields
Granger or Green/Pietrus/AA
Davis/Gooden/Acy
Val/Amir/Gray

Gooden's not the same player anymore and add to that his contract looks horrible. We would be paying Amir/Gooden 15 million dollars to have the same role.
