It's not about the fact that guys LOVE Louis Williams, it would be having the chance to acquire Thaddeus Young and the Sixers insisting that we take on Williams' contract in the process to make the salaries work.
I can't see the Sixers giving up on Young for so little however. |

The Rumored deals
Sactown out Noccioni, Garcia, #33 in Turk, Beli, Weems Sactown saves 3+ million instantly, gains a playmaker, doesnt really take on any long term salary. Philly trades: Williams, YOung in: Jack, #13 Philly gets a playmaker and another lotto pick To add to that Charlotte trades: Chandler, Diop, Augustin gets: Jose, Evans, Banks Charlotte sheds salary instantly and moves a terrible contract in Diop. Chandlers value is very low as he is always injured, Evans and Banks are expirings and Jose is a pass first pg who saves teams need to resign Felton and allows Jack to become more offensive. TORONTO: Augustin/Williams Demar/Garcia Young/Noccioni Bargs/Amir/Dorsey Chandler Teams gets alot younger and more athletic. A possible Bosh deal would sure up lineup(if Bynum then He and Chandler man the center position and hopefully neither gets injured at the same time, if Miami/NY/Chicago get a bit of filler pieces and TPE's to use on some free agents of our own. Starts the rebuild proces off quite nicely with young point guards, a young wings. |

In order for that Sacramento deal to work, we'd have to toss in either the #13 pick or Derozan.
Philadelphia wouldn't trade Young and Williams for Jack and the #13 alone. That's not a fair trade for them. |

Brand, Iggy, #2 (Turner) To Miami: Bosh To Philly: Beasley, Derozan, Jack, #13, #18 ?/Jose/Banks Turner/Weems/Beli Iggy/Weems Bargnani/Amir/Evans Brand/Amir/Dorsey Then Trade Hedo + filler to get a PG (if possible), and sign another big with the MLE. Last edited by jeffb; 06-11-2010 at 12:22 PM. |

Yeah true, but they'd be getting a SG with some upside with Derozan (No Turner but not bad) and two first round picks. Add to that Jack which they can either flip in another deal or allows them to trade Williams or Holiday. And Beasley in the right situation might be a fit. Their lineup: Williams/Jack Derozan/Green/Henry Beasley/Carney Young/Whiteside/Smith Daly/Speights/Whiteside + #13 (Henry?), #18 (Orton or Whiteside if he falls a little?) Not bad imo. |

This trade will at first sound crazy, but I think it makes a lot of sense on all four sides:
To Raps: Maggette Iguodala Nocioni To Kings: Turkoglu Bellinelli To Sixers: Derozan Weems Banks To Warriors: Evans Udrih Now, we know Turk isn't coming back. He's thrown out going back to Sacramento. He'd complement Evans well, and the Kings were shopping Nocioni at the deadline, his DUI not endearing himself to Kings management well. Sacramento gains an edge, and it's the kind of move they need to make to enter the playoff race in the west. For Warriors, the Maggette deal holds them back a bit, Evans gives them an expiring contract, while Udrih is a much more manageable contract for only two more years. They gain flexibility for the 2011 free agent race. Again, Maggette was shopped last year at the deadline. For the Sixers, Weems and Derozan are similar in many ways to Iggy, but come cheap and are both controllable for five more years if the Sixers wish while Banks provides an expiring. Sixers can't get rid of Brand, so Iggy becomes next best option and was shopped last year as well. Raptors could sweeten this deal by offering some picks or cash if need be. While Toronto gets the most talent, all three teams partaking in the deal gain flexibility and shed some problems. Now, Toronto takes on more money long term, but will remain under the salary cap this year if Bosh walks. If he does, this trade provides much more of a slashing and cutting element on the wings for the Raps while allowing Bargnani to do his thing. We will need to consider how to run our offence next year if Chris leaves and I believe this would work well. This is what Vince brought our team, and Maggette and Iggy can score in bunches. With a solid signing using the mid-level exception and a good draft choice this year, a new core develops. After watching the Raps the last few years, it becomes clear that things are not working. I really think by getting rid of seven (Bosh, Turk, Weems, Derozan, Evans, Banks and Bellinelli) not to mention all the expiring deals, this team can reinvent itself. But then of course, BC and JT can argue for patience as the team tries to develop chemistry, but I would rather take that than wait for this crew to implode. A solid sign and trade for Bosh could also bring in possibly two solid rotation players which will help fill out the roster next year. |
