Yeah but the bigger picture is, can we really beat LBJ, Wade, Bosh or KD, Westbrook, Harden with Gay, Nash, Bargs?

it would definitely put us on the map though. I'd like that.

Personally, I really don't want to give up that 8th pick unless Colangelo is certain he can also get Nash.

name me a conceivable combination you see in the near future to beat those teams without making these types of moves?

.
Probably not. So what? We have stunk for years. This team has never even won 50 games before. You have to take steps. We have to become a place people would think of going, that requires winning and being on TV during the playoffs, and having a winning culture.

The other way to win is by getting studs in the draft. I WOULD HAVE LOVED TO HAVE GONE THAT ROUTE.

But guess what? We're too good for that already. One season and Casey has them already playing too hard to tank. We can't get a handfull of studs via the draft because we're too good to get top 5 picks.

So, yeah, worrying about beating OKC and Miami is getting a bit ahead of ourselves. Let's win 50 games for the first time. Let's start with that.

The thing is BC has backup plans. Dragic put up an 18 PER last season and is a UFA/we've had a good history signing Euros. We could be in on the Lin backload deal. And if BC strikes out on those and goes out and signs Jameer Nelson for 8 million a year it still doesn't look bad when combined with the Gay addition, as it would lock up a playoff season next year just about. I think the Dragic deal would be really nice though. Dragic, Derozan, Gay, Bargnani, Valanciunas and then guys like Bayless, Weems, JJ, Amir/Ed hanging off the bench = really nice talent. I mean I have an issue with the whole team building idea of fat contracts and not a lot of homegrown picks, but if we're going this route I can sell myself on that group

Don't sign fricken Jameer Nelson. That guy stinks, and is a downgrade compared to Calderon. Undersized, is a scoring guard more than a passing guard.

I think you lost everyone right about here. Rest of your thoughts make sense though. If we're going to start grabbing vets might as well go all in and try to hit in the middle of the East playoff pack.

Nelson has been overhyped due to playing with DH12 all these years.

It's okay, Kirb. I don't care. Even if you genuinely wanted to give me a thumbs down, that's fine. We're still homies.

I f'n agree with Jeff big time on this one!

A lot depends on whether or not Nash still has enough in the tank for us to make that playoff push. I know, people have been saying this for the last 4 years, but it's still a concern.

I'm worried he'll slip to Boston at 21. They also have another pick at 22. I'm hoping Denver takes Royce White at 20, as is speculated. One of those two guys is likely to be a very good pro, if not both. I'd puke if the Celts land Miller and White. Since the Celts already have Rondo and Bradley in the backcourt, I think they'll be looking at wings and PFs like a Miller and/or White.

Why are you guys high on trading bargnagni? what have you guys been smoking, the guy was a damn B3ast before he got injured? yeah he needs to add some muscle and rebounding but big men like him take YEARS to truly fill out. The guy is 7 feet tall and shoots the lights out ... come on, what is wrong with you haters? His Defense will get better under DC. Next year this time, all you barny haters will have your heads in the sand mark my words!!!

Shoots the lights out?

And before he got injured......13 games? We've seen 13 game stretches before with this guy, it doesn't make him untouchable. Not by a long shot.
