The OFFICIAL RAPTORS Free-Agency Pursuit Thread

So with the draft now over, phase 2 of remodeling out team starts tomorrow (just after midnight) 12:01am July 1st!

We can use this thread to talk about Raptors' moves and/or other teams' moves too.

Who do we sign? Is Nash a given? How quickly do you think he makes his decision?

Casey has said that they'll be going after a vet PG and a vet SF - we can assume Nash is the vet PG, but who is the vet SF?

Let's do this thing!

I'm gonna keep pimping my thread. If you need to reference the cap room we have or amnesty options, see:

Everybody thinks that the Nash thing is a foregone conclusion, but what if it doesn't happen? What's our backup plan?

Also, how fitting would it be if Nash had already made up his mind, and signed with us on CANADA DAY!

I still say that Lowy is still an option, especially after Colangelo stated that the trades talks would continue through the weekend and going into free agency. I'll guess that Colangelo basically says, look we may have another deal with someone. If that doesn't pan out let's talk next week. And if not he'll just go after Dragic and make them overpay for him to keep him. ;)

I think we're hoping to come out of next week with one of Nash, Lowry, Dragic + a SF. But that's just a guess.

This could actually make a lot of sense. I was one of the people that was saying that Lowry would NOT be dealt on draft-day, with Dragic not as of yet re-signed. Houston just wouldn't risk going from 2 really good PGs to none, and if they dealt Lowry on draft day, only to have someone massively overpay for Dragic, that could've been a possibility.

I can see a deal being worked out between TO and HOU if the Nash plan falls through.

Not just a guess but makes total sense - since that's what BC and DC were after months ago. we're just starting to see the results of the plan put in place.

We'll see what goes down on July 1st, I hope something big happens

DSWC 06-29-2012 06:25 PM

BC said in his interview today, that things are not as simple as "signing 2 free agents on July 1st and then waiting for training camp to start".

I'm wondering if they try and sign Nash right away, but then wait it out on the SF market. Quite often there are some deals to be had at the end of free agency, when some quality players haven't been picked up yet. Not a lot of teams have cap space this year, either.

Who else is available in the way of a PG? other than Lowry and Nash.

Carlos Danger 06-29-2012 06:31 PM

Nvm, found a list. Slim pickins.

Could we afford Gerald Wallace at SF if we amnesty Jose?

Any interest in DJ Augustin?

Nic Batum and Eric Gordon will have any offer matched. And Roy Hibbert

Shifty.py 06-29-2012 08:35 PM

Dallas has cleared so much salary, are they trying to repeat Miami Heat FA run? But there isn't anybody but Deron in first tier. And they don't have assets to trade for Howard

HabsFan1 06-29-2012 09:51 PM

Any interest in the following?

Delonte West or OJ Mayo???
