Mavs' face-to-face sitdown with Nash, I'm told, not YET on the schedule. But Nash told ESPN he knows & understands Mavs chasing D-Will first

Here is why i think he won't go to the Mavs. He's their second choice, just like 2004.

Marc Stein ‏@ESPNSteinLine

In ESPN sitdown Nash said he's eager to meet Mavs if they miss out on D-Will. But sources say TOR & NYK are his top two (no order) for now

That's a better lineup than anything we can put together!
New York is a mess, if they want to compete for a championship they will have to trade either Stat or Melo. Trade Melo & get Marion/allen they would have a way better chance.

The fact that he even had Phoenix in the mix and didn't even seem like he wanted to leave would imply that he is not a ring chaser.

One thing Toronto can also do that N.Y. can't is pull a Hedo back door move and offer a higher figure last minute.

Sorry but turning us down to go to NY for possibly less money? That won't be pretty imo.

reading your mind

Tim Chisholm ‏@timpchisholm

Here's a question: If Nash does not sign with Toronto and signs with, say, New York, does he get booed when he visits the ACC?

As hard as it is to believe, Nash would have to be ready for chants of "Free Jeremy Lin" in N.Y.

It all makes sense now. Jeffb is Tim Chisholm! How did I not figure this out sooner!?

whos this idiot
Does anybody really think that the Knicks might win a championship in the next three years, even with Nash? A core of Nash, Anthony and an increasingly fragile Stoudemire is not going to do it.

However, the pressure on Nash and the others would be huge in NY. So, for Nash this might be the worst case scenario. Huge expectations for a championship, but not being able to come very close, in a rabid, unforgiving and unrealistic fan-base situation.

Better think this one through, Steve.

T Wolves going to offer Batum 45-50 million over 4 years. That means we won't have enough money to match or beat that. 12 million already going to Nash. 10.5 million from amnestying Calderon. Unless we trade for Calderon and Amnesty Amir that will mean 28 million. We could offer him up to 14.5 million per year the max (not that I'm advocating it); just the max amount we can offer him. I don't see BC doing that nor should he as he repeatedly said he won't spend all his money on 2 UFAs.

Hahaha...I'm not so sure that it's a done deal but...

Thank you! I'm not directing this at any one poster, but so many people read a rumour and assume that it's true. Oh, he's meeting with New York? They have a couple of things to offer him... we're not getting him. Srsly. You realize that this is the New York media trying to pump him up right? They have newspapers to sell.

Chris Haynes of CSNNW.com has reported that Portland Trail Blazers restricted free agent Nicolas Batum has received an offer from the Minnesota Timberwolves. The two sides will meet later today to discuss a potential deal in the range of $45-50 million over four years.

Batum’s agent, Bouna Ndiaye has also been in contact with the Toronto Raptors and the New Orleans Hornets about the forward’s services.

The Trail Blazers have the right to match any offer for Batum, who can’t sign an offer sheet until July 11.

Batum averaged 13.9 points, 4.6 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 1.0 blocks, and 1.0 steals last season for the Trail Blazers.
