This is very disappointing. I can't think of a single reason for doing this other than they thought he'd get something close to this on the open market and that wouldn't happen, period. The management said he'd have to earn it and lied and signed him to a contract I don't think he can ever live up to. The press panning will probably deflate his confidence, it clearly diminishes Ross's role for the team and God knows what this will to for Bargs agent when we finally have to resign him - he probably thinks he's a near max player now.

The only reason he's kept his job so far are for dealing Hedo for Barbosa and hiring Casey.

I was beginning to think that I had a handle on BC's plan for this team going forward.... but now I'm back to having no fucking idea at all.

All that remains is for Drummond to turn into another Dwight Howard and we can all shoot ourselves in the head.

after one loss? lol we played good, keeping a game while shooting in the 30% range is pretty awesome

Unnecessary, because there's no risk teams would come for DD at such rate, cause no one watches Raptors.
The only explanation is they believe in DD and wanted to take away distractions.
I believe in Demar though, so this certainly is not worse than trading JJ and signing Fields.

I'm not completely against this signing because Demar may very well earn his contract because he has the talent to do so. It's not like the Landry signing at all. But I think we should have waited until the offseason to see what he did this season, and then see what the market is for him at that time.

The only way the market for him is over 10 million is if he plays unbelieveably well this year, and in that case, we should have no issue with handing him bags of cash. BC jumped the gun for no reason. Hes restricted. It makes no sense.

Casey: DeMar's a great kid.
BC: I know. Great player too.
Casey: True, I might talk him up too much in the press though.
BC: Oh f**k

That's pretty much exactly how I feel. I would have preferred to wait until the summer and see what offer sheet, if any, we needed to match in order to keep him long term.

I liked the Ross pick because I thought it would eventually spell the end of Demar, a shooting guard who can't shoot and gives up just as many points as he scores. 60 million locked up in the Fields and Demar tandem over the next few seasons, which I can deal with, so long as it spells the end of BC.

I really fear this ending with DeRozan as our amnesty candidate.
