Now if he shows anything, there will be a team or two willing to accept the price tag and be happy that he's locked up. And this means that much more can come back our way than before. How does a rookie contract do that?

Just signed a SG who can do 2 things on the court to 9-10 million/year. I really really really hope there is a team or two willing to accept that price tag. I think we're stuck with this guy. So much for drafting Ross to push him. Flexibility has been lost.

Also how the word Drogba uses about that officiating is the word that's appropriate for that extension.

you're being generous
He cant hit a jump shot with his life depending on it. He's inconsistent getting to the line. He doesn't create for others. He doesn't rebound. He's definitely nothing great on defense. His athleticism is over-rated. His efficiency ratings on both ends of the floor are less than desirable.
So I'm curious, and this question is for everyone who thinks he's worth the 38:
What EXACTLY is Demar good for?

Kuzzy 10-31-2012 11:24 PM

I mean like really he manages to score 15+ on our shit team, great. But does that really make him worth over 9 million a year when guys like OJ Mayo (who can actually hit a jumpshot with some consistency) make less than half that

HugoBoss 10-31-2012 11:24 PM

hate the deal, ur paying 10 mil a year almost for a SG who can't shoot, drives with no finish around the rim and stares at the ref almost every drive looking for them to bail him out. he's told to do one thing - score and get to the line, and he can't even do that. his D is worse than bargs, at least bargs can somewhat play 1 on 1 D just his help D sucks, but at least bargs can consistenly score. nevermind that the DD never passes off the drive, and can't rebound either

he's would not be a starter in any decent team, and tonight we saw it with the two PG lineup so much cause our wings are so shit

I dont understand why we just didn't wait to see how he did this season, to see if he would improve, what's the rush? there's plenty of SGs in the league to sign if he leaves via RFA..such an unnecessary and stupid barley any upside signing

TORaptor4Ever 10-31-2012 11:24 PM

Just saw this now..... WTF?? :confused2:

Why NOW? How much did we sign him for?

EDIT: $10M/yr?? Seriously? Say that isn't so.

Admiral 10-31-2012 11:24 PM

at least some of the contract is incentives, and with the way he plays he probably won't make most of those incentives anyways
there's probably stuff like making the allstar team, averaging like 20ppg, basically stuff he's not going to achieve anyways
and if i'm wrong about him achieving stuff like that then he'll be a good player anyways and it'll be worth the contract
lets just hope its not easy incentives like playing a certain number of games per season or team achievements like making the playoffs

4yr/38mil with a chance to get up to 42mil.

Kuzzy 10-31-2012 11:25 PM

f*ck the incentives, he's not worth 38/4yrs period.

Kuzzy 10-31-2012 11:27 PM

damn Fields, DeRozan to clog 15+ million dollars worth of cap for the next three years... just great. We'll eventually have to give Lowry his 10+ and resign Bargs for 10+... TRADES HAVE TO BE MADE.

well, if JV is as good as advertised there's going to have to be trades, unless these guys can improve to become a superstar 4 and the bench becomes a bunch of scrubs

N64 10-31-2012 11:31 PM

We drafted Derozan as a project and he's still a project. This team needs to learn to fucking tank when it needs to, look at the kind of player Harden turned into :dead:

if he plays this season like he did last year, he will be impossible to trade without giving assets or taking back another bad contract.

really hate this deal, I just don't get why did we have to hurry, did we really think somebody would offer him 12/yr this summer???

Seriously, WORST case scenario is he plays gangbusters this season and he increases his value to a 12-14 million/yr player. In which case, we'd still sign him, but for 2-4 million more, but at least we get a young all star calibre player.

Right now, the worst case scenario is he sucks, and we're saddled with a horrible contract for 4 years.

Come on, those deals for our wings are very reasonable :cookie:

HugoBoss 10-31-2012 11:36 PM

my wishful thinking was that its some super ploy BC came up with for some sign and trade thingy he's working on where he had to match the salaries and so he had to sign DD to this stupid contract :yeah:

you mean the likely scenario

Admiral 10-31-2012 11:39 PM

casey plays the dual PGs not because its effective but because his wings suck and playing a 2nd PG and risking size on D is still better than playing 2 wings

Kirby 10-31-2012 11:39 PM

Taj Gibson got the same thing.

Edited for accuracy.

All I can say is he'd better play his ass off now and live up to that contract.
