Is he that far off from them? The Raptors know what they are getting. They don't want to compete with market value when they have a good read on what that will be right now. And now he can be much more tradable if they get within reach of that extra injection of talent that could make a big difference, as long as he shows good progress.

Were you guys not paying attention at all in the off-season? The market for players has skyrocketed. Wouldn't expect anything less for a player of DeMar's caliber, it's just the way it goes.

Not my money, so I could care less as long as he continues to grow.

I think he is, especially considering his lack of defense. People said hill was overpaid, and he got only 8 and I would rather have him over demar to be honest. Of course, all this is based on his performance so far, maybe he'll have a good season, but for he's shown until now, 7/yr would have been better value IMO.

Fuck this bullshit. I don't really like DeRozan that much so that's why I hate this deal. I hope he proves me wrong and does really well this year.

We spent most of our existence trying to attract players to Toronto. Finally, finally, a player comes along and actually likes it here. A player who has a chance to make a name for himself in the league. Are we really in any position to be picky about how much it takes to retain a player?

We're just lucky he didn't spurn us like the rest of them.

The Raptors have come to terms with DeRozan on a four-year contract extension. The contract is guaranteed to be worth US$38-million. Incentives could make the dealís overall value worth US$42-million.

38 is a nice number. Doesn't make him impossible to trade. And incentives I have no problem with.

Impossible no. However, his value has just decreased a lot. He had a lot of value in that if he were to be dealt, whatever team would acquire him could have more of a say in his contract. Now they don't have that. Really disappointing deal. Harden is definitely worth the max if DD gets that deal.

C'mon. Now he is under contract. Teams don't make deals worth shit when they have little idea what they will be getting long term. If they weren't going to be prepared to offer him 38 million as a rfa, then they were just going to be trading for a rental. There's not much value in that. Now if he shows anything, there will be a team or two willing to accept the price tag and be happy that he's locked up. And this means that much more can come back our way than before. How does a rookie contract do that?

Not the worst deal, but I would have rather had him at 34-36M. Still, 38M with the chance at 42M, hopefully he lives up to it. Paying for the potential, at least we know what the future is for the Raptors.

Bargs, Lowry, DD, and Val.
