Default The Official JO just plays for his own stats thread

There, i made it, flame away, but thats how he rolls, he doesnt look or sound committed to Toronto in anyway and when asked about being moved he is just has a w/e attitude. Now i know you JO lovers point at this intensity, but it feel so much to me like he just tries to make blocks for stat reasons, he doesnt take up alot of room downlow like i hoped, he doesnt inspire teammates or light fires under asses like many thought he would, i honestly just feel like the number 1 priority to JO is JO, increasing the stats, getting a decent next offer and leaving TO.

BTW he wasnt excited to come here, he was excited to GTFO of Indy, he would have gone anywhere to ressurect his career.

It's not all bad how he is doing it, probably increases his trade value nicely.

Oh and i officially cannot spell Thread.

I've already made this point, a little more tentatively, but I'll join in on an official declaration, sure. And I'll go one further and say he probably played the coach in agreeing that it was going to be Bosh's team, and that it was not going to be about numbers, but rather being physical. I'd say he was ready to push Sam, Andrea, and whoever else under the bus in order to not have to be the defensive anchor this team needed. No more system looking for him to take charges and change shots and clear space for rebounds. Bring on the post-ups early and often, some sitting back waiting to swat a few, and then if things aren't going so well with the game overall, maybe come up with a way to not be a part of the losing so much.

We heard a lot from the guy before the season and early in the season. I mean we heard more from him than we did from Sam. And a lot of it doesn't come across as being anything more than words.

I expected him to make other guys better, and help get this team focused on the important little things. But instead I see a lack of focus, and JO just not even looking like he is part of this team. I'll take losses with a group of guys that are at least all looking out for each other, and behind each other completely, over a guy that is working the whole franchise to help make himself look good.

In the back of my mind I feel I could be way off base, but it's hard for me to sway myself otherwise.

He did early on. The defense was all about directing players towards his brittle body. Apparently he didn't like that idea too much though.

I kind of agree.Especially about him "wanting" to come to Toronto. That's bullshit imo. He glowed about the city a little too much, it was over the top and transparant.Especially with his wife next to him looking like she would rather be in Iraq then in Toronto. If he isn't traded within the next year, he'll bolt so fast in 18 months.

I think JO is who JO is, and he's not a great leader. He's an asshole, and he's selfish. Which is fine.

I think Sam Mitchell would of dealt with JO if he became a problem. Whereas Triano has so far catered to JO. Made him an equal to Bosh in the offense on every night.

Sam always had Bosh going first, numero uno. Except when he surprised Boston by going hard to O'Neal.

But whatever, Sam is gone.

True Kuzzy. He plays for his own stats but he's the only one on the whole team that goes for charges, hustles for the ball, etc. He is the only one that even looks like he wants to win. I'd rather have him over Bosh at this point

You know who else used to be hungry for stats? Ricky Davis. So by your logic you'd LOVE to have him on your squad right?

Seriously, he is playing for himself. Every possession, every game. He's a great individual talent but at this point in his career he's playing for himself, getting his and playing for a future contract.

JO knew Toronto was an ideal team to do this with too, since realistically our championship expectations are slim to none, he could just come in, get some nice numbers and perhaps get his next contract up in the 9-12mil range.

I'm confused.

JO plays his ass off.... rebounding the ball... blocking shots... taking charges... banging in the post....

... and now he's selfish and just playing for a contract?

What, pray tell, should JO be doing right now?

The crazy-talk on this forum is reaching new heights... it really is.

I was against the trade when it happened last summer. T.J. had to go, but I'd hope we could have done better than getting the second most overpaid player in the league.

There's a difference in his demeanour. Again, I say it's most visible on the offensive end, could be just me.

I still don't understand. Are people upset because he's taking (and making) shots? Is he supposed to just stand there in the post and do nothing? JO's been a threat for us down low... one of our only bright spots there.... so why shouldn't he have plays run for him? And why shouldn't he take those plays?

I don't see it.

I will say this though... I wouldn't be surprised if JO IS losing focus a bit. When you're putting your body on the line and some of your teammates play like they don't give a damn it's going to be frustrating.

The thing is TO is that take a look at what he said in the off season about wanting to play second fiddle to Bosh. Not looking for his shot etc.

And now, offesnively he's looking to get his. Again, he's really taken Chris' role on the offensive side of the game and even Bargnani's. So where do they end up plaing?

I dunno, I'm starting to not like him all that much.
