Default Colangelo: "embarassing"

“You’ve got to look at this as a disappointing situation that we’re trying to make better.”

With Casey saying earlier Saturday that he wasn’t about to tinker with his starting lineup (although “minutes and rotations will change according to production,” the coach said), Colangelo defended the skill level of his team.

“I don’t believe this is a talent issue,” he said. “I think it’s a lack of focus, attention to detail, consistency of competing. We’ve shown flashes of very good basketball, just not good enough to pull out games when we need to pull them out.”

Casey said the post-game meeting in Salt Lake City didn’t unearth any new revelations about what’s wrong with the team. But he did say it was good to hear players come to the same conclusions the coaches have.

-----------------

“They tend to be honest when they’re talking about other players and the issues that are at hand — pretty brutally honest — and that’s what you want.

“You want guys to be honest and open.”

i think after this season, am i right?

he should be out, he as a gm had the job to rebuild this team and just sticked with our borderline-stars (bargs, derozan) and hoped that they will become real franchise-players
FAILED!!

Phoenix Suns trade Jason Kidd to the NJ Nets for Stephon Marbury.

I think our talent problem may be front office related.

I'm on board now. Fire him.

Listen to 1st quarter. He should be fired if he beleives it is only inexperience that is hurting this team. Bargnani is worst than terrible and has to go. How he has the nerve to go out there for that interview right now and spin BS is beyond me. And if he feels he MUST be interviewed then he had better take some fucking responsibility for the talent level and not state its inexperience.

To be honest, I just think that BC is a bigger homer than anyone on this forum when it comes to this team.

He absolutely REFUSES to believe that the players we have here just may not be good enough.

We've put ourselves in a position to compete, but have still lost, against Philly without Bynum twice (once without J-Rich too), the Mavs without Dirk or Marion, Indy without Granger, Detroit, Charlotte and the Jazz (who are good, but we had at least three solid chances to close them out too). And that two of our wins could have easily have been losses were it not for a terrible 4th by Orlando and god-awful shooting by Indy on the last possession. Do you realize how bad that is?

I'd much rather get the trades and firings over with now, develop the young guns better and try to have a shot at a top 3 pick rather than stymying our youth development and putting up a fight so we end up losing our pick no matter what, then blowing it up in the offseason.
We DO have a half decent squad. HALF of our squad IS decent, and the injuries can not be denied. Ok, maybe not half. But there are 4-5 players that are/will be useful in the future (Lowry, V, Ross, Derozan... maybe, and Davis)

BC will NOT be fired. Why pay him when you can just let him leave at the end of the season? MLSE is so business oriented that I can't see them let him go mid season just to end up paying someone else while still forking out his ridiculous salary.

The only other thing I will add, is that our record would look a whole lot different if Bargs & Calderon were not being given the insane amount of minutes they are.

They are the only two stay overs from the Bosh era and the cords gotta be cut. The only question is does BC have the balls to do it? or will it be his replacement come May?

That is true. He's a worse homer than Leo.

After his "we didn't lose enough games last year" and overall meek tone about Ross... He was sitting at a pick with nobody he wanted because of Waiters and Barnes being taken, ideal spot to trade it for Lowry right? No, because he wanted a PG who's 39 in February instead. That's just terrible. No competent GM should look at the rest of the roster and take 38 year old Nash on a huge contract over 26 year old Lowry. At that point the GM is making moves for other reasons than the future of the team (trying to impress MLSE with the Nash sales so he can keep his job)

I honestly didn't even think about that before but that def. would have been a solid option as well.

I believe it's been written that BC was going to trade the pick for Lowry AND go after Nash, but Lowry said he wanted to be a starter and take the next step in his career and that's why we didn't do it.

Which is even more ridiculous of course. Yeah let's sign Nash for 11-13 mil a year when we have Lowry. SMH

+1. That thought didn't occur to me either.

But I think BC's ploy for Nash was his attempt to do what Anthropolous just did for the Blue Jays; make Toronto a destination before a single game has been played, it just backfired horribly (I agree that he was misguided in doing that).

Losing BC will be a benefit to the franchise but I don't think that will happen until the offseason.
