Casey is coaching as he preached he would.... Colangelo isn't interfering... that's absurd, even for an incredibly wise poster to admit.

Casey has failed to add to his defensive system.... they rely on the most simple of tactice over and over again. There is zero randomness because we're too young of a team to adapt and not get confused by it ourselves. Our perimeter D sucks. Our interior D sucks. Hello!!!!!

Not possible to know it.

If Colangelo admitted to it, he'd be out the door asap, because the on-floor performance gets linked to him and the performance is a threat to profits.

If Casey admitted it, would any GM/head coach ever hire him even as an assistant? You don't rat on your boss without consequences.

Yes, it's speculation, but we'll never get more than that.

But one has to wonder because of the inexplainable changes in the coaching style from last year.

There is a core of players here from last year-Bargnani, Derozan, Amir, Ed, Calderon, Gray, Anderson, that learned Casey's system and improved the defence a lot last year- and without a training camp to speak of. With a training camp this year, plus the core from last year, there should have been enough defensive mentoring to bring the new faces along and show them the way. So why are we racing backwards?

Something sure smells fishy no?

Now I'm curious.

It seems pretty clear from listening to that Tim/Sid/Jack interview that Bargs is being played regardless of how he is performing. That and "The Hub" and "ride him hell or high water" comments sure sound to me like a directive was sent from BC to Casey.

Is that not interfering with a coach? I'm asking because maybe people don't think that is interference or maybe I'm not cluing into something.

Not to pick on Bargs (because he played pretty OK yesterday) but I clearly remember a couple of times last year Casey quickly yanking Stumbles and screaming at him as he sat down. This summer there was so much lip service about guys competing for minutes, but this year I rarely see much accountability for key players. Maybe people think Casey is so dumb that he will sit a red-hot Ed Davis to play an ice-cold Bargs because he thinks that's the way to win a game? I don't think he's that dumb, but I could be wrong.

There is plenty of evidence of BC giving directives over the years. This year surely is no different.

Talking about how he thinks new acquisitions can take on greater roles, possibly as starters, as though as much was promised to them as a sales job that the coach needed to follow through on. Talking about an exciting brand of basketball and coaches consequently looking to run, put up 100 shots and all that.

It's not that unusual that a GM would prefer to showcase a player that he wants to trade. Why do you think it's so outrageous?

the last good thing bc did, was getting pietrus, which wasn't becuase of him being an exceptional good gm, it was a no-brainer; he satisfied many needs of us (veteran leadership, shooting, defense) and wanted to be here; no brainer

and the signing of lowry is still overshadowed by the fact, that he was just plan b to getting nash, WE NEED CHANGE!!

Actually, Lowry himself said that he was told they meant to get both Nash and him. He told Raps managment he didn't want a part of that because he wanted to be the guy leading the team.

Colangelo Characterizes Raptors' Play As 'Embarassing'
Dec 08, 2012 8:50 PM EST

Bryan Colangelo assessed the Toronto Raptors’ 4-16 start to the season.

“This situation is, from all standards, unacceptable,” he said. “It’s disappointing, it’s embarrassing but this is where we find ourselves.”

The Raptors have lost nine of their last 10 games and are scheduled to face the Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday. Colangelo traveled to Los Angeles to conduct private meetings with some players and the coaching staff.

“There’s been a lot of dialogue, a lot of discussion,” he said. “It’s constant evaluation of what we’re doing and how we’re doing it and why we’re doing it.”

Colangelo defended the talent level of his team.

“I don’t believe this is a talent issue,” he said. “I think it’s a lack of focus, attention to detail, consistency of competing. We’ve shown flashes of very good basketball, just not good enough to pull out games when we need to pull them out.”

Doesn't sound like a GM ready to pull a trigger on any deals.

Probably wants to see if they can turn it around

Our next 3 games before the 15th will probably make him decide on what to do.

And of course Colangelo's pap is disseminated by brown-nose Smith.

"Doug, Doug, I need someone to space the floor for me. I'm being double teamed by the fans and management. Make it seem I'm on top of the situation."

I'm sure he's used these exact words when he called Bargnani an enigma. Hopefully this time he really is trying to maintain value on the "talent" he needs to move. If he really improved focus and attention to detail will solve all problems then he needs to be slapped.
