Well... some suggested that BC might renege on the verbal agreement, so I thought this worth posting...

I still don't get the need for Fields, but that's me.

according to his interview on the fan, it looks like he'll be signed to play small forward. otherwise, i don't know who he'd be talking about when he mentioned beefing up the small forward position. i hope we sign him. don't love the figures, but he's a good player.

I got the sense he was intended as a backup to the 2 and 3 spots - a solid third wing who can spot start at either position in case of injury.

agreed, and if he is signed i can see jj being dealt or kleiza being amnestied as BC continues going after a starter at sf

Iman Shumpert is with #Knicks summer-league team, rehabbing, in his brace. But Mike Woodson said he felt Shumpert was progressing very well and made it seem like maybe there's a chance the former Georgia Tech defensive stud can beat January. "Hes with us, in his brace, moving around,'' Woodson said in Vegas. "I like to say hes head of schedule but maybe Im jumping the gun too.'' Woodson said he "didn't know'' about Fields. Matching Fields only happens if they feel Shump is out for year.

I hate to wish for a player to be injured long term, but...

But wouldn't it be the best for Shump to rehab until April next year?

I read somewhere today that the 3 days start as of Thursday even though it was filed on Wednesday. Sounds like we'll know if Fields is a Raptor on or before Saturday.

i like fields i like his size and the fact he can guard multiple positions on the floor, plus he is always on attack mode

he fits our team much better than the knicks,

kleiza and johnson both want to score the ball where as fields wants to make the right play meaning passing when needed or taking the shots

plus with derozan, bargnani, and lowry on the floor you want a guy like this on floor to balance our the offense, he'll know he is the fourth or fifth option on the floor at all times

I think Fields is a great fit for our team. He has got his talent in defense and is not greedy on scoring (or building stats, if you will). Especially when you have guys like Barg, Derozan, and Lowry on the floor, it will probably better to have someone who can keep running around to create open chance, rather than begging for a ball.

The best thing about Fields is that he has not missed a single game since he made a debut to NBA. Think about our roster from last year. We did not have anyone who played whole 66 games last season. (and only one player, Derozan, has played whole 82 games during 2010-11 season..)

We need to ensure that we have a player who can stay healthy throughout the entire season (just like Mo Peterson from a decade ago..), and Fields is the best candidate for this.

I can live with the SG rotation of DD and Ross and SF rotation of JJ and Fields. I just don't think that Fields brings anything to the table that the other three players don't already possess, and that include his size, which is really too small for SF position.

If James Johnson is starting at SF this season BC should be fired.

Disagree. Let training camp and the exhibition season decide. If he wins the job on merit, maybe he's finally getting it. He's noticeably better than when he arrived here, and maybe the incident with DC makes the light go on for him.

Thank heavens you are not in charge, then. Could you, please, attempt to substantiate that sentiment?

I don't understand the hate for Fields one bit. It's almost like its just blind hate to compensate for not being able to acquire a bigger piece on the wings this season. Fields is a damn good player.
