If he is the one who taught them how to play zone - sign me up for the bandwagon.

The great thing about Casey is, he's coming fresh off of a system that works, and works incredibly well.

Carlisle doesn't have 6 assistants for no reason, that coaching staff (not to mention they have a basketball analytics coach too) was a well oiled machine. Everyone was heard and trusted.

Hopefully DC, if hired, can bring that same philosophy to Toronto.

This is true.

Chandler... Stevenson... Marion.... 3 quality defenders right there (with experience) that we just don't have.

It's going to take a while for us to get to that level.... but guys like Amir and Ed definitely show promise.

Wait for it.

Derozan, Johnson, Davis, Bayless.

They all got what it takes to be solid defensively.

You gotta bring it out of your guys. Make them believe that D will lead to success.

b.c. is a lot better @ his job than people have yet to realize or give him credit for. He may take chances and swing for the fences but I am telling you, one of these days he is going to hit a grand slam and bring a big trophy and ring to Canada.

He's thrown up some air balls but he learns from his mistakes and has CLEANED UP HIS MESSES as best he could (better then most ordinary men ... umm Turkoshat anyone?? "yes coach, ball!")Trading him was like turning water into wine man! Miraculous sh*t!!
One piece @ a time my friends! getting Dwane Casey is a triumphant and monumental occasion, rejoice Canada!

We are watching destiny unfold!
Relax dude...

Lets not jump the gun here... No official word has come down that Casey has been hired yet...

He's not the saviour either... he is just a step in the right direction..

Same with Frank if he is hired..

JJ is already a solid defender. If he gets quicker laterally he'll be awesome.

Mr. Casey is a GREAT choice! I loved his motivation and how he focused he is into games! I remember, I believe it was in Game 5 where he like was SOOOOO into it, that HE was in his own defensive stance haha!

Great, fun guy! I was reading about him, and Mr. Nate McMillan said the reason why he wasn't successful with the T-Wolves when he was the boss, was cause the staff and organization weren't fully in tune with each other! He has one now with the Raptors, hopefully it goes through!

I'd love to have him!

A coaching staff of Casey and Carlesimo would be interesting on defence. Both have experience with championship defensive systems. Even though the system last year did not usually work, it showed some potential.

I like the fact they are stepping Triano down. I liked him as a coach. But he has too much history and freidnliness with th guys, maybe they dont take him totally serious when he says he will bench you when you dont play D.

Fo rthat matter, they should probally get rid of him all together. If he is part of the problem, why keep him around.

They obviously respect his basketball acumen.... it's not like he didn't achieve any positive growth. He might not have been a great head coach, but he's clearly shown that he isn't a dolt. I think it's impressive that this organization can convince a guy to lose his job but still find better value in his skillset elsewhere.

Your right there. One thing he did do right was when they had the last possesion of a quarter. He could ussually call a nice play to get an open shot.

It's a team effort, both the coach and the players motivate each other.
