Oh no doubt he helped. It just bugs me that every time its mentioned that Casey can teach good D and did it for Dallas, everyone just responds "Chandler made all the difference" or something to that effect.

I hope this is true. Casey has a great defensive acumen as he showed in Dallas. It's not just man-to-man defence and rotations, but he also knows how to teach the zone defence, which the Raps may need to use quite often especially with Bargnani in the middle.

It appears there is only one name at the top of the Toronto Raptors short list for head coach.

According to ESPNDallas.com, Dallas Mavericks assistant coach Dwane Casey is now the favourite to take over the coaching reigns from Jay Triano and could get the job as early as next week.

The other candidate reportedly in the running is former New jersey Nets head coach Lawrence Frank. The report indicates both men were interviewed by the Raptors this week.

Casey was the architect of a Mavericks defence that was able to shut down Dwyane Wade and LeBron James of the Miami Heat in capturing the first NBA title in franchise history.

Last season, the Raptors finished worst in the league in defensive efficiency, allowing 110 points per 100 possessions.

Casey has been a head coach in the NBA before with the Minnesota Timberwolves, where he was fired in 2006-07 after a 20-20 record to start the season.

REALLY happy about this hire. Seriously, couldn't have chosen a better guy.

Casey is a defensive mind who holds players accountable. VERY excited about this.

Dammit we don't need a motivator. It's the players jobs to keep themselves motivated.

Bullshit. Part of a coach's job is to motivate, absolutely. The Players also need to keep themselves motivated but over a long season the coach(s) need to motivate.

FINALS

How sweet is it to get a coach STRAIGHT off of a world championship.

& not just ANY world championship but an EPIC masterpiece vs. the most hated man in sports and his clown sidecar rider Chris Bosh. This is 2 good to be true! The Raptors will be amazing under Brian Colangelo & D.C..
b.c. is a lot better @ his job than people have yet to realize or give him credit for. He may take chances and swing for the fences but I am telling you, one of these days he is going to hit a grand slam and bring a big trophy and ring to Canada.

He's thrown up some air balls but he learns from his mistakes and has CLEANED UP HIS MESSES as best he could (better then most ordinary men ... umm Turkoshat anyone?? "yes coach, ball!")Trading him was like turning water into wine man! Miraculous sh*t!!
One piece @ a time my friends! getting Dwane Casey is a triumphant and monumental occasion, rejoice Canada!

We are watching destiny unfold!
