right? Amazing some ask what the big deal is about wingspan....

The kid is only 18....there is a very real possibility that he's going to continue to grow taller and longer :jack:

Want to see if he has a high motor to go with the wingspan. Other things are all teachable skills.

What's next? Will he been seen as the next KD as advertised?

It's obvious Casey and Masai will praise the kid... they have spend the 20th pick in a deep draft. I hope he will see some PT in his rookie year and develop well.

But a question is boogling my mind: if the real target was Ennis and this was only a move to get to Ennis: Bruno + 57th to the Suns for Ennis (thinking the suns were high on Bruno) but the Suns didn't bite?
Well first off, there are many that skipped points 1 and 2 and went right to 3 and 4. And of course it switches from one end to the other for many since 99% didn't even know who he was. Once you spend a little time looking and listening people get excited - just like any other prospect that you or anyone else looks at.

As for Ennis, it's clear he wasn't the main target for the Raps - Bruno was. The Raps wanted their cake and ice cream on top and was chasing another pick at 22 for Bruno most likely - but only if Ennis slipped to #20 and when he didn't there was really no need to get that other pick with Prince (tying up cap space).

As for the Suns, they didn't bite because Bruno was never on the table for them - seems pretty clear to me anyways.

Not a big surprise, Payne is 23 and won't progress dramatically. Bruno is 18 and a project at this point. Definitely a pick for the future.

He wasn't even our #1 target, it was Ennis all along.

For the record, I am not a big fan of the pick. If he turns out amazing, I will be glad I am wrong.

Casey was saying that when he watched him work out a week ago, the kid was really quick to adsorb what was being taught. Good signs especially if he does have that high motor (though from comments about his attitude he's highly passionate and expresses it).

I think that Ennis was your target all along but certainly not :mu: Don't get me wrong, he probably would have loved to have both but if he wanted Ennis 100% he could have sacrificed a player and included the #20 to move up a few spots to ensure he got Ennis. There was no moves like that.

Well according to Casey, Tyler was their man.

Bruno, he said, was their #2 man. They didn't want "the other guy to slip as well".

Also, McDaniels was my man for the draft.

- This kid will be a 3. A very, very, very long 3. Will easily be able to step into the 4 spot at times as well but we are going to want to develop him as a wing.

- Those arms cause havoc. If I'm the Toronto brass my only 2 goals for this upcoming year is developing his body and most importantly his handles. He has massive mitts. Gotta make sure he knows how to use em.

- Has a surprisingly DECENT shot. Looks weird cause of the wingspan but it's consistent. His release is at like 9-9.5 feet apparently which is stupid.

- Kid seems to have some fire to him. Not a T-Ross type. Can get pretty animated. Has a personality.

- Definitely has solid blocking instincts. Loves to go for those nasty contact blocks.

All in all, worthwhile pick if you ask me. I always love these unknown international players as long as they bring something unique to the table. He'll only be 19 in September so it's definitely a project but I think with the right tutelage and gym work he can contribute far sooner than most people think.
Great post
Be watching some summer league this July

It will probably take awhile for him to make the rotation, judging by Casey's fetish with veterans. But if we just solidified our starting SF of the future , I'm okay with waiting

I also love that Casey wants to get his hands on him right away - being a top defensive coach and all.

Bruno will learn more from those 3 than any D league stint.
Masai called Bruno a basketball junkie. Him and Demar will get along

So many people flipped when we picked JV knowing he had a buyout situation and might be a year away. Now people wouldn't give up JV for anything other than wiggins.
Relax guys

Also excited to see DeAndre Daniels by the way. This was a draft that had 1st round talent in the second round.
With two 'big wings' coming in, who apparently can play some defense and shoot, we probably won't be getting one in free agency

Excited to see Ross develop some handles during the summer as well

I find it odd of a pick.

I find it annoying that the Toronto Hype machine is starting to rev up about potential, this, future looking bright that but you look at media's interpretation outside of Toronto and it is a very negative looking pick.

Personally when I cant even find ANYTHING on the kid at all, with all the scouts etc and social media that is available all over the world yet this kid on DX's website has a scoting report from 1 game and only 1 game, not much else available on the internet with exception of a 1:30 second clip of him walking through a couple drills and playing a scrimmage in which he didnt look too hot. And a couple short videos of a couple of dunks.

Sooooo

That only logically leads to a couple of things, only he and his friends and family know nothing of social media, and the local sports reporters, team coaches trainers etc no not how to market or raise hype for this player that only logged minimal minutes per game,

or

He just didn't deserve to get that type of recognition.

Masai and his staff scouted him many times. Ujiri actually went to Brazil 3 times this season to scout him. They don't base their choice according to Draft Express reports...

Ujiri has a good record when it comes to drafting. Last year he was high on Giannis and he tried to get into the draft to take him be couldn't. This year he's high on this Brazilian kid and I trust him. At least more than the media that never actually saw him play.
