The kid has potential. "Nobody" knew much about him but it seems the Raptors did their homework.(Mock drafts suck) It seems like Masai and the team did everything possible to get to know this kid and then tried to get another later first rounder to get their top two ranked prospects. Whatever happens with Bruno, it seems the team did everything they could and you simply can not ask for more.

Yes, he is a project. I love the fact there are reports he is coming to the NBA right away. A lot of time with our coaching staff and some time in the NBDL will help him a lot. He seems to have game changer potential. If he reaches his potential we could end up with a really good starting SF in two years and have him for another 15. Sure, it looks like a gamble a bit, but I don't mind that with #20. If it works out you have secondary core in Ross, JV, Bruno that could take over the team in two years. The more I think about this the more I like it. To me, this also shows we are keeping Lowry and GV.

Last night, I was as surprised and as shocked as anyone. Today, after absorbing all this info, I'm excited and happy. I can not overstate how much I love the fact Masai and the team did their homework and went after THEY saw for themselves. All the TV and web "experts" are there for a reason and also not working in the NBA for a reason.

I like Ennis and would love to have him but Bruno was he target along and not the plan B as many suggest - Ennis would have been the icing on the cake. I 100% agree, BPA which is why he's was picked. Looking at the vids and reading about him he seems to have an incredible ceiling.

Jalens a player, those other 3 guys making fun will look silly IMO - they judged without knowing anything. At least Jalen paused and he'll be the only one not looking stupid.

I like the fact he's going to go to LA with Ross and DD right away - those 2, especially DD, will show him how hard he'll have to work to be in the NBA and that's cool in my book and the right direction to put him on right from the get go. I also love that Casey wants to get his hands on him right away - being a top defensive coach and all.

Bruno will learn more from those 3 than any D league stint.

Yeah, i think it's pretty clear that the attempt to get 22 from memphis was all about getting both Ennis and this kid. They knew very well that 37 was not going to get it done.

I didn't fall in love with any other possible pick, so i'm just pumped. Casey looks pretty pumped as well. I love that a kid like this can still fly under the radar to this extent and that we'd have the advantage to know about him. It's fantastic.

That's huge in my books. MU and his staff certainly did their homework and no one can argue they didn't. To have so many excited about this kid is exciting to me- speaks how high they valued him over the other players.

I have a couple of friends from Brazil, they're saying if the rap fans actually had a chance to watch this kid play live they wouldn't be in such a sour mood.

Amir, too. Getting to workout with those two will help him a lot. Summer league will also be a big development step for him.

You have to have some faith in the Management team to make these tough decisions ... they clearly saw some special attributes that align to the culture Masai is trying to build with Casey
Props for the hard work in keeping this one quiet ... hope for us this provides another building block in the near future

I like the fact that he will be around, but I think it's the panels reaction is what made the pick seem terrible.

So I wonder how different he is from the kid who plays for the Bucks..

There has to be cap implications with this pick. Now we can take non guaranteed players with our second round picks. Disapointing!

- This kid will be a 3. A very, very, very long 3. Will easily be able to step into the 4 spot at times as well but we are going to want to develop him as a wing.

- Those arms cause havoc. If I'm the Toronto brass my only 2 goals for this upcoming year is developing his body and most importantly his handles. He has massive mitts. Gotta make sure he knows how to use em.

- Has a surprisingly DECENT shot. Looks weird cause of the wingspan but it's consistent. His release is at like 9-9.5 feet apparently which is stupid.

- Kid seems to have some fire to him. Not a T-Ross type. Can get pretty animated. Has a personality.

- Definitely has solid blocking instincts. Loves to go for those nasty contact blocks.

All in all, worthwhile pick if you ask me. I always love these unknown international players as long as they bring something unique to the table. He'll only be 19 in September so it's definitely a project but I think with the right tutelage and gym work he can contribute far sooner than most people think.
The vids show the kid has a non-stop motor and he's confident. He's not as a raw as Fran and gang make him out to be. He needs work and he definitely needs to get stronger, but I wouldn't say he's extremely raw. He can shoot, his handle is decent, he's a good one-on-one defender for his size, and he has good quickness. Needs work with playing in a team, defensive system, but that can be taught. His b-ball IQ see,s high as well, which MU and Casey mentioned. Some of those quick outlets were beautiful to watch, it shows an uncanny awareness of the situation and where his teammates are.

T-Mac I think is he youngest Raptor. I might be wrong on that.

100% agree with both of these and yes, Amir is another for sure. From reports this kid has a very passionate attitude and expresses it - I like that as well and something the Raps can use more of.

I really like the culture MU is developing, very exciting. I was worried MU would just do status quo (the typical NBA GM thinking) - bring in retreads, draft and hope etc. he has definitely surprised me.

By the end of the year of the year, this young man will likely be contributing more than Fields and could very well end up in the rotation. No one saw Giannis A being a rotational player in his first year, and BCab has better skills at the same age to build around. Giannis A was and still remains a below-average shooter, but he has better handles and is a bit quicker.

You can't teach wingspan. He's got 7' 6" inches of it.

Hmm, this board is soooo bipolar.
First reaction: omg, who?
Second reaction: darn, we are the laughing stack of the league now
Than: hmm, a vid? lets see... well, he seems not bad
Now: he has a high ceiling, will be a rotiation guy soon, glad with the pick

What's next? Will he been seen as the next KD as advertised?

It's obvious Casey and Masai will praise the kid... they have spend the 20th pick in a deep draft. I hope he will see some PT in his rookie year and develop well.

But a question is boogling my mind: if the real target was Ennis and this was only a move to get to Ennis: Bruno + 57th to the Suns for Ennis (thinking the suns were high on Bruno) but the Suns didn't bite?

Spoiler alert: falling in love with this pick.

I love that he's got that Wiggins attribute of blocking three point jump shots. Imagine he and Ross defending the wing? Hope we get to see a good bit of him this year. Kind of rooting for Ujiri not to get a SF in free agency so Casey is forced to play either Fields or Bruno.

I think the issue is that there were a number of teams that the Raptors thought would try the 'draft a foreign player and stash them' trick in order to save as much cap space as possible for this season. A team like OKC for instance.

The reaction is pretty normal if you ask me. Nobody knew him, not even the so called specialists. So seeing him go at 20 in such a hyped draftclass was kinda of a shocker.

Normal also to be a little excited after learning about his physical attributes and after seeing some of his highlights.

Also, he was definitely our priority; We promised him months ago and that's why he didn't do any workout. He's from Basketball without border, so Masai obviously knows him very well.

I don't think Masai will offer him in any deal, his ceiling might be well above Ennis's one, even if having the both of them was the idea yesterday, and that would have been a hell of a draftday for the Raps. Too bad, f***ing Suns...
