i was pissed at the start but knowing he wil play in the summer league and develop in d-league thus allowing Raptors to call him up makes me happy. can't wait till it begins.

wished Raptors played in both leagues like other teams

- 3 or 4 teams knew about him, but Raptors had most intel on him
- he's one of the most athletic players in the draft
- projected SF or PF. But most likely a 'wing'
- favorite player is kevin durant
- huge potential/upside
- currently in new york, getting visa to come over to canada
- other guys on the board at 20 did not have as high of a ceiling
- very young, 18 years old. Quick learner during workout
- high basketball IQ
- good quickness for his size
- will send him to LA with ross and demar. Will join summer league
- Masai tried to keep him secret
So basically he will be a perfect player.

Well that's good news. When he got drafted they made it seem like he wouldn't be on our roster for a few years.

well you can put him in d-league to get him mins while maintaining his roster spot.

all i care about is that he is in NA next season (hopefully playing mins in garbage time) and ill be satisfied with the pick.

Whats with all the hate from fans, nobody has seen this guy play yet.
I have no problem with this pick.
I wouldn't have a problem with this pick even if ennis was still on the board.

You're not picking top 5, to expect a rookie to come in and make an impact immediately is ridiculous. This is not a lottery team anymore, and fans have not adjusted yet.

I was surprised to see names like rodney hood and kyle anderson still on the board at 20, and was shocked to see masai pull a name outta nowhere. But judging how excited masai and casey looked, we could be walking away with a good prospect here.
Thats all you can hope for at a late first round pick.

He's been working the phones all night with teams like phoenix and memphis, deals just didnt happen.

I feel like Masai had zero backup plans after Ennis. That 20th pick was a huge asset and he spent it on a raw wing player.

What direction is he bringing this organization? Tanking because he knows Lowry is leaving?

He's only turned us into the Atlantic champs in 1 season, thats a pretty good direction.

If it wasn't for his extremely long arms, I don't think he could dunk.

I've watched every piece of tape I could find...some brief observations.

- Whoever says he's slow is nuts. Kid has fluidity and can run down the floor like a gazelle. He should only get faster when he gets stronger.

- This kid will be a 3. A very, very, very long 3. Will easily be able to step into the 4 spot at times as well but we are going to want to develop him as a wing.

- Those arms cause havoc. If I'm the Toronto brass my only 2 goals for this upcoming year is developing his body and most importantly his handles. He has massive mitts. Gotta make sure he knows how to use em.

- Has a surprisingly DECENT shot. Looks weird cause of the wingspan but it's consistent. His release is at like 9-9.5 feet apparently which is stupid.

- Kid seems to have some fire to him. Not a T-Ross type. Can get pretty animated. Has a personality.

- Definitely has solid blocking instincts. Loves to go for those nasty contact blocks.

All in all, worthwhile pick if you ask me. I always love these unknown international players as long as they bring something unique to the table. He'll only be 19 in September so it's definitely a project but I think with the right tutelage and gym work he can contribute far sooner than most people think.

Ya'll should have traded up for Tyler Ennis (18). Phoenix is totally stoked.

We tried!!!!!!!!!!!

Intrigued by the pick. Obviously Masai has had success in the past with drafts so I'm giving him a chance before I rip on the guy. Seems like he has a lot of potential.

I do not like the pick. He would of been there at 37 and we should have either picked Hood or Capela with the 20th.

He would not have been there at 27, let alone 37.

It's pretty simple. BPA. The US commentators looked like idiots. How can he be the bpa when I don't know anything about him? Good on Jalen for immediately trusting the little bit he was able to see and not be utterly mystified.
