I'm glad I was working during the draft lol.. my head would've blown off during our pick. Sounds like a Colangelo move. I just don't get the point of passing on the likes of Hood and Napier to pick a guy that probably would've been available in the late second round.

It is what it is.. hopefully Masai thought it out properly and delivers with this one.

Still lol'ing @ "Brazilian Kevin Durant".. way to ease this guy's future transition to the league by comparing him to the league's MVP, ESPN.

Masai
- started tracking him since basketball without borders
- scouts followed him to tournament in december
- bruno will play in summer league
- bruno was #2 on Raptors draft board
- did not think he would be available at 37, couldnt trade up or down
- willing to wait for guys to develop. Will be patient with bruno
- very excited about bruno. 6'9 wing with 7'6 wingspan. Basketball junkie.
- felt he was best talent available
- masai went to brazil 3 times to see him
- coach casey was there to work him out couple days before draft
- not picking for 'popularity', thinking long term
- possible he will be on the roster this coming season
- tyler ennis was a target but was already picked
- 59th pick was moved. Can not comment right now (xavier thames)

Well, so, obviously, they have scouted Bruno to death. It was a very thought-through decision and we must wait and see.

Utah and Suns were high on this kid too and about to pick him if available with their next first rounder.

Masai was feeling himself a bit too much. For someone who is supposedly against wasting assets, seems like he did just that.

how many people were projecting george to become paul george? not everybody screams star from high school.

If he's a hard worker and has the intangibles, with that physical attributes, he can definitely be a star or more. You and I have no clue about what type of person he is, but masai does. So maybe we should give it some time before deciding?
A lot of people foresaw George becoming a good player. Not sure why he was your first comparison. Frankly, araujo would be a better example...raw, played against inferior competition, not extensively scouted, project.

Look, this kid might turn out to be a great player someday. But it won't be any time soon unless our organization has somehow become smarter than everyone else. He's certainly not going to help build on last years progress any time soon. I just think there were safer picks at that spot even with ennis gone

I guess we'll see what we have in 3 years or so.

Araujo was a known quality and was expected to go in the mid to late 1st round. He was also 24 years old when he was drafted.

BC is 18 years old. Yes, it will take time for him to develop. I would rather see the team take the guy who they think has the most potential than to use a pick on a player that might help immediately but only be a contributor for 2 or 3 years.

Dwayne casey on draft review

- met bruno in houston
- very athletic prospect, huge size
- tried to move up for tyler ennis, didnt happen
- lengthy defender, shotblocker
- reminds him of young rashard lewis. Ability to shoot 3s
- 3 or 4 teams knew about him, but Raptors had most intel on him
- he's one of the most athletic players in the draft
- projected SF or PF. But most likely a 'wing'
- favorite player is kevin durant
- huge potential/upside
- currently in new york, getting visa to come over to canada
- other guys on the board at 20 did not have as high of a ceiling
- very young, 18 years old. Quick learner during workout
- high basketball IQ
- good quickness for his size
- will send him to LA with ross and demar. Will join summer league
- Masai tried to keep him secret

Some info from a North American source: Utah and Phoenix were hot after Caboclo, would have taken him if on the board with next picks
Can you imagine if Phoenix had taken Ennis & Cabolo? Haaahhh!! I have a feeling MU hates them right now.

FUCK Phoenix!!
