It would have been really bad for DeRozan had Ariza's elbow connected with the back of his head, that's for sure. I'm going to say under 2 games because that's what I think is most likely, but he deserves 5 and a significant fine.

On the plus side, Jack is doing more and more to become my favorite player on this team.

he should get 5 to 10, the fact the he didn't connect is irrelevant. It was an intentional, direct hit to the head, even in NHL they would suspend the player for a long time ...

It should be 5-10 games. Intentional cheap shot that could have caused an injury if he had connected. Plus if that had come against anyone else than us and connected, it would surely have caused a fist fight. Even with us I think someone would have gone at him much stronger had it connected. Probably Triano or Alvin, but someone anyway.

It seems to me that traditionally, pro sports have nevewr had the marbles to toss out significant suspensions for "misses".

don't get me wrong, I'd give him 10 games and a hefty fine, but Pro sports only seem to care about result, and not so much intent. I hate it.

What you have here is a clear case where the NBA will have an escape clause to keep them for having to answer to the PA because they will say he didn't connect so a small suspension is all thats needed.

It's a sad as fuck situation because the PA defends it's players against the disciplnary board all the time when it tries lay down the law on players that show a blatent disrespect for the health and safety of thier peers.

It's pretty ridiculous to me.

Same. I actually liked him as a player, I've now lost all respect for him. I doubt DD would have been injured if he had connected though, it would have been a fist fight. DD's Compton roots would have gotten the best of him.

What did Shaq get for his missed punch on Brad Miller? I don't remember it being very much. It's probably under, although Ariza is not Shaq, and has done some questionable shit in the past. I really lost a lot of respect for him there. I'll say push.
