After some thought, I realized the positives of this.

Honestly, around the league, who cares if you had 900-ish consecutive 3 point field goal games. It's only the Raptor media that blow this out of proportion. If you watch a Dallas broadcast, I'm sure that the commentators would not comment on the three point shooting if the Mavericks failed to hit a three pointer.

The statistic has no effect on the Raptors organization. I don't think that we were known as a deadly 3-point shooting team throughout the 16 years the Raptors have been in this league. There are teams that can really hurt you with three point shooting- Dallas, Orlando. But I don't remember a recent game where the Raptors won because of their superb three point shooting.

My point is: whatever, throw the streak out of the window. In the end, it's not going to win us a championship or attract superstars to the city.

well at least you got VC winning the slam dunk contest as a Raptor. Also, Kapono tying for the 3-point shooting contest and Jose having the 2nd longest free throw streak

2 different things... He had the second longest consecutive streak (87 - when the record was 97), but he did finish the year (08-09) with the highest free-throw percentage (98.1%)

Actually, that's from the article that I posted, I guess I should have mentioned that the publication date is from March 1st 2010. If I remember correctly, the Mavs were only 10-20ish games behind us for the streak.

The last time it came down to a final shot to salvage the streak, a short, bald guy wearing the number two stepped up. Gaines was the right guy to go to since he shares those characteristics. Unfortunately, he ate Spalding.

i don't know if some of you are serious. In any case, i am going to get completely drunk tonight in celebration of this great day. Finally we are rid of this unsightly fungus that has followed us around for 10 years. Thank GOD i don't have to hear about thee most pointless and useless statistic ever anymore.

Thats the spirit

But this was to be expected in this game. Coming into the game we had 2 guys who should even consider taking a three even when left totally open (AB and Bayless). And one of those guys has gone like 0-20 in last four games beyond the arch and the other is a streaky shooter who has been injured a lot lately. We didnt really have a chance.

Props for "Guido" Gaines for trying though (0-4). If he could just hit the rim or atleast the backboard with his three point attempts, it might look little less akward.
